Here's another vote for Man U 3-1.
(I think the worst opening days were the home defeats to Notts C and Sunderland when we were league and European champions respectively)

If i'd been at Hillsborough i'd have said that, but I was on my way back from a holiday somewhere.

Strangely, QPR ('93) edges out Man Utd ('96) for me.  On the back of that '92-93 season, I was convinced we'd go one better and win the league after that game.  Andy T and Guy Whittingham were the missing pieces of the jigsaw.  Ah well.

Of the matches I've attended I think they've both been said:

AWAY - Sheff Wednesday 1991

HOME - Man Utd 1995

The worst is Spurs 1986

I did call this Saturday out on the first page Dave. But everyone was so miserable back then that nobody noticed!

What will be even more interesting is if Saturday proves historically significant in the future direction and fortune of the club.

1995 for me, great first half, beautiful sunny day, just a shame I left our season tickets at home and having got half way to Brum (as now live in Bristol) was a mare, panic set in resulting in a trip back to get them, was not a popular chap for a couple of hours that day trekking back to Bristol.....but made kick off and the lads did us proud that day..

Wednesday '91 (I don't remember it being as hostile as I was expecting but that could be my memory fading), followed by Albion '83. I seem to remember Ipswich '87 and Forest '89 we appeared to take a few more fans than they were expecting. At least I got into the first one.
