For me Albrighton and Bannan are good enough to push for places. Makes more sense then getting Bentley and McGeady. The Fonz is likely to get more exposure next season and I also think Lichaj will be cover for the fullback positions. Weimann should go out on loan to a decent Champs club and if we keep Davies then Clark should have a season of regular 1st team football.

I'll never understand MON's treatment of Luke Young. One of the best right backs I've seen at villa.

What even better than  Tommy Wright and Keith Bradley?

Not sure how old you are Irish so do forgive me, but he would be way down my list. He wouldn't even make the top 5. But then I'm no great fan of Luke Young, think he is hugely over-rated. Realise I am in a minority of one in thinking that mind you!

Make it a minority of two, Richard, I'm with you on this. I think he gets sucked out of position to easily and goes to ground too readily. I also think he's no better than competent going forward, and that he's hardly a young player going to improve either. Cuellar offers us more defensively than Luke Young does in attack (and certainly in defence), so I can see exactly the thinking behind MON's team selection.

I don't think they'll play their 20 million pound full back on the wing. He's also currently the England full back and he'll want to play in his natural position. Especially now as everyone is under the microscope.

True. I don't really think they have bid for Luke but with Johnson's attacking ability it would be a reasonable idea if they did.

Unless of course Johnson's off to Inter as linked a while back and Luke is merely the bargain replacement.

Well if they sell Johnson for £20m an get Luke for £3 its brillliant work in the market by Hodgson

Do you honestly believe anyone will pay that much for Glen Johnson? I was bowled over when the supposedly broke Liverpool did to begin with. Benitez was mugged.

Earl Barrett, Mark Delaney, John Gidman, Kenny Swain, Gary Williams, just a few who were far far better.

LY reminds me of Kevin Gage, some like him, some don't....average for me, won't be a great loss and if we get £2/3m great.

I don't know why, but i really like the look of Weimann.Have only seen glimpses, but he always looks like scoring to me.

Memories are made of Bobby McDonald, John Robson, John Gidman, Kenny Swain, Colin Gibson, Gary Williams, Earl Barrett, Alan Wright, Gary Charles, Fernando Nelson....and, yes, I realise they weren't all right backs!

Oh yes, and Gagey!

I said the same thing when someone said Mascherano wasn't worth £25million. There is one man stupid enough to pay £18million for Johnson and his present right back might be off to Real Madrid.

I'd throw bald bullet Chrissy Price into the mix also.

Me too. He's got this kind of aura that talented young players sometimes have. It might be his balance and his movement off the ball, they're both really very good indeed for his age.

His lack of ability as an attacking full back came as a real shock to me as I had somehow got hold of the idea he was excellent going forward. I've seen him offer barely anything in that department. Huge disappointment all round for me...
