Love the black top the lads were being interviewed in. Big lion is very retro. Cracking winning goal from them, and Big John looks in top shape. Nothing to worry about, it's a good work out. Need some new bodies and we'll be in good shape. I am looking forward to seeing some of the excellent kids coming through.

Hmm, when was the last time we scored a goal like Bohemians winner?
Fantastic work by Albrighton for our goal - this kid needs to start league games, not come on with fifteen minutes left when we're chasing a game.

I don't know where you sit, Guy, but around where I sit the moaning at the manager at least matches, and possibly exceeds, anything on here. I pick and choose which games I attend depending on what's going on in my life, but tend to choose the sanctuary of the Upper Trinity. Awesome view of the game as a whole and plenty of space to not have to sit too near other people and listen to their opinions! Be honest paulie, the majority of people you sit near post on here tho, don't they? :o)

I sit in the UT too. If you're sitting in the bits with space (ie the wings), you're obviously amongst other day trippers ;-) Where i am it is 100 percent season ticket holders, so I suspect the grumbling has had more time to settle in.

Fantastic work by Albrighton for our goal - this kid needs to start league games, not come on with fifteen minutes left when we're chasing a game. Wondered who that was with the cross. Albrighton must have added an extra yard of pace to his game as he always struck me as a David Bentley or Beckham type (but without the crap hair). Namely, not the quickest but excellent pin-point delivery from out wide. True, he was only up against some LOI clogger, but hopefully bodes well for the future. Not bothered about the result at all. Pre season results are worth the square root of fcuk all. All about getting game-time into the legs.

Albrighton was a threat all game, our best player. Ashley played well too. We were once again poor at holding the possession in central midfield.

I really, really like Albrighton and would prefer him to McGeady. I will clarify this by saying it's a matter of person choice as he is more my kind of winger than McGeady.

I know we had a discussion about him the other day, but I really like him too. My only concern is that he really did look like a little boy lost when he came on a couple of times last season. Now nerves is not unusual in a young player and hopefully he will get over it but sometimes ability on its own isn't enough if the player hasn't got the mental strength to go with it. I'm thinking of players like Stephen Cooke and Peter Wittingham here.

He has a style that's very easy on the eye though.
When he came on v Fiorentina he looked as good as anything on the pitch -including our lot and their top internationals.
Yesterdays result illustrates the folly of reading too much into a pre season performance or result. But if we give him more of a go this year I reckon he's good enough to take it. Perhaps nowhere near being a nailed on starter, but a definite option from the bench. Not at rightback though, that's completely pointless.

I was at the game yesterday, and also at the team training session on Friday. Gabby has definitely put some pounds on over the summer, looks like he has been eating at McDonalds. Petrov and Collins look fit, i'd say they are really looking after themselves, Gabby take note. As already said it is only a friendly, most of the players are not looking sharp enough yet, Albrighton had a good game so did Ashley, NRC looks like he doesn't want to be around. Some of the younger lads look keen, Bannan, Hogg, Lichaj. Need to sort out CM though, Osbourne, NRC are just not the answer. Jim Henry (fitness coach) was putting them all through their paces on Friday, shuttle runs, sprints, didn't see anyone struggling, no need to panic just yet, a rare mistake by Friedel is all it was.
