Jack your cousin was a bit unfortunate in that he was thrown in the deep end through neccessity, i am sure he has a future in the game.

Hi Jack,

Welcome and good of you to say hello. To be honest, I'm interested to see what Chris is like if he gets a game or two in midfield, his preferred position - from what I've seen so far he looks pretty athletic, tenacious and tidy on the ball. He coped quite well filling at at right-back/centre-back but looks like a decent midfield prospect.

Every time I've seen Chris Herd I've been impressed. I think from our Reserves he's the closest to pushing through to the first team squad, as Albrighton was last season. Great attitude, comfortable with the ball, physically strong and boy does he like a tackle. The only doubt I have is which is his best position. Obviously he's still learning but I'd hope and expect to see him getting a bit more experience next season. Maybe a loan deal to one of the better Championship sides would be ideal as he needs to get games under his belt. He's certainly out grown the Reserves and with the few games that they have, it won't be enough to push him forward.

I'd agree with that although I'd say Gary Gardner is first cab off the rank.
Chris does have versatility on his side. He's smart and adaptable. One more good loan spell at a championship side should do nicely after a good pre season here.

I can't read Jack's post on anything but an Aussie accent.

Jack - welcome to H&V sir. Your cousin has done very well indeed, and another very good prospect from the academy. you should be proud of him!

I was surprised to see Chris H get into the team despite our injury problems, but he did well when given his chance, especially in that 2-2 draw against Man Utd.
Recently signed a new contract hasn't he?
