Someone om the radio earlier this week was talking up the NZ manager and saying how good he was.

Ricky Herbert is a great coach. He has done wonders, considering the players he's had to work with. He also manages the Wellington Phoenix who play in the Australian League.
I can see him getting a better job overseas in the not too distant future.

After the thread necromancy from Kippax, just looked up how this chap got on. He did work overseas, but for Papua New Guinea U23s and the Maldives!

Are they a step up or a step down then Celtic?

Definitely some blasts from the past in the names on this thread. And even bigger surprises on the ones who have been here without name changes.

Troy Eccles(?). He started the Stuff on the Telly or the original film thread. Banned for some casual racism I think.

Could be. I also remember a 'Robbo' from Aus somewhere and not sure if i've seen him post for a while.

What happened with Mazrim as well, he was on all the time at one point? I take it Gregnash got the huff in the end as well? I never minded him really despite the fact that he was rather negative.

Mazrim went off in a huff and resides on other forums I think.  Semper Fi.
Didn't Ryu go off in a huff when someone told him to 'go boil your head'
I thought Gnasher was banned.

Was Zigic that big fucker that they gave a long contract to on biggish money that they were desperate to unload because he was breaking them and he wouldn't go, the good lad?

He was although he did go into their hall of fame for a deflected goal against us in the QF of the League Cup at their place.

Didn't he also get the ball dropped onto his foot in the final as well. I suspect the one you mentioned gets all the plaudits though.

Martins scored the winner. I think Zigic scored the 1st.

Iirc Zigic was on something like 50k a week, a fair amount back when he signed, and not only did small heath not include any relegation clause in his contract, they did include pay rises each year. So that's why he was financially crippling them for 2 or 3 years.

One of the funniest things I’ve seen on a football pitch was when we played them at ours.
At one point Barry Bannan ended up marking Zigic.
The ball was hoofed in their direction, BB jumped to try and head it, Zigic beat him without jumping.

Doesn’t seem so funny writing it, maybe you had to be there 😂

Possibly the only time us and them laughed together.

I saw the same thing with Bannan in a reserve game against Reading & he kept trying to compete with Andre Bikey. It was hilarious. But you had to give it to Bannan, he is a competitor...
