Lovely winner from Merson, oh for a player like him now.
Had to smile at the coventry fan with his crappy looking 'we will be back' banner, it's not looking like any time soon!

Mysteriously I couldn't get through to my Cov supporting cousin on his mobile that day.

Maybe the signal was bad.

Somebody should send this to those Geordies who think we only laugh at them when someone is relegated at VP

Good stuff. I hadn't seen the goals for quite a while. I was on The Holte with my mate, his brother and my wife who was due to have our first baby around that time. I thought the excitement would end up with her having the baby a Villa Park! I remember Gregory bringing on Ginola for Staunton when we were two down in the first half. The papers were putting the turnaround down to Ginola but I thought it was more down to Merson.

I was quite upset at half-time, thinking we were going to let them off the hook. It made the second half all the sweeter.

So much to enjoy about this game - coming back from 2 goals down to win, Angel's first goal, a peach from Merson, cracking atmosphere when the Villa goals went in, and helping to send that lot down.

Brilliant. What a crying shame we will not see games like that again or such an attacking array of talent. :-(

My first Villa game, as a 7 year old, remember it well. Cheers for the nostalgia!

JPA's first goal for Villa. Does anyone remember the H&V article about this game, it was brilliant? I still have it pinned up on my wall at work.
