I went in a Conservative Working Men's Club by me once. It had pictures of past leaders adorning the walls. Having a pint next to a picture of Thatcher was tremendous fun.
When walking over Kinver way one day a mate said "We should go to the Con Club for a pint, they've got some great beers." I refused point blank to set a foot anywhere near the place....my hard earned pennies would not go to that lot!
Found out when we walked through the village that "Con" was short for "Constitutional" so we went in and supped a few really good ales from an excellent range.
I became a member the year after!!!

Sorry I didn't know you had to be a Labour Voter to post on here.
I thought it was a Villa site for Villa fans to post about Villa stuff.

You don’t have to be, and it is.

Probably best you avoid the political pages, but there is an irony that you posted on this particular page. The build up to a general election on H&V is like when B’lose are above Villa and think this is the moment when the ‘balance of power has shifted’ and then it doesn’t.

Come on lads, keep 'em coming.

So far I've got:

"You're not allowed to post if you're not Socialist"

"We won the election so we must be right"

"LOL, fanatical left in meltdown!"

I just need

"We aren't all racist, you know" to get House in my game of Tory H&V poster bingo.

In the midst of an all dayer we pitched up in Wednesbury Con Club, we were asked to leave the function room because there was a private party on but allowed into a side bar. It was all red red velvet and framed pictures of Tory PM's, rather like a right wing wing fetish knocking shop. We'd already had a warning about foul language when my mates Dad vented his frustration at my lack of understanding as he explained quadratic equations when applied to accumulator bets. He expletive exasperation resulted in us being thrown out, a badge I wear with utter pride.

That was always a weird place - like one of those clubs where octogenarian Anglo-Indians spent their declining years bemoaning the loss of the Raj and toastng the queen at sundown. On average, Enoch was proved right in there 27 times a day.

Foul language? Did someone start talking about monetarism?!

You did.  You said I deserve to be stalked by Anne Widdicombe.

It has affected my Mental Health.  I don't think I will get closure until you apologise to me.
I feel you are Bullying me.

I might report you to Dave.  Of course if you say sorry He might let you off.

I'm not commenting on the villa as I can't get in to watch the Youth team at the moment.
Even though I know a lot of academy people it has never been so difficult to find out what is going on.

I said that. The mental image amused me.

I't may be different elsewhere, I don't know, but my guess is that website forums that have evolved from well established fanzines are more likely to be left leaning given the climate that the fanzine movement started up in, with outright hostility from the Tory government of the time towards anyone that had the nerve to like going to watch football, and of course the class connotations that went with it.

Never forget, fuck the tories.

Anyway, Larry, don't take it personally, I've enjoyed your youth team updates in the past, and if I ever met you in person I'm sure you'd be tremendous fun.

Politics aside I would imagine "a right wing fetish knocking shop" as you put it to be a lot more 'kinky' than a left wing knocking shop. I suspect a left wing knocking shop to be very much 'belt and braces' (literally) whereas I would imagine a right wing knocking shop has a left turn into the sauna and a right turn into the 'authentic dungeon experience'.

The topic has moved on to right wing knocking shops v left wing knocking shops. We are just waiting for Legion or PWS to sort out the poll  ;)
