Muppet Donations

Hi

As always we have the begging bowl out. We are never failed to be amazed by the generosity of the readers (not just the posters) of this site.

Why should you donate?

Please Note that this Forum and the Fanzine are completely separate, purchase of a subscription to the Fanzine is just that, it is for the Heroes & Villains fanzine publication (now online). Donations made through this site go towards the running costs of the site. We now carry some adverts, but they only contribute a little towards the running costs. We would prefer not to have adverts all over the place like other websites, so without donations, this Heroes and Villains site would not be able to continue. If you get enjoyment out of the website and its community, then why not contribute a little something back, to help keep it running?

Does the site make a profit and if so what happens to it?

No it doesn’t, in fact only five out of the fifteen years we have asked for donations have we ended up with a surplus (our continued existence is down to the generosity of our much maligned admin Martin). Our aim is to receive enough donations to cover the running costs each year, any surplus is carried forward to the next year to continue covering running costs.

Okay, I’m convinced, how do I make a donation?

Donations can be made via Credit or Debit cards (PayPal) by following the link below. If you'd prefer to donate by bank transfer or cheque, please PM Martin (martin@ardenley).

How much should l donate?

That is entirely up to you to decide. Whilst we’re not completely swayed about having a minimum donation, the donations are for a reason, to keep the site going. People should donate what they think this site is worth to them. For some that will be more than others, and it doesn't make higher donators better than somebody else.

That said, we don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest £13  (£1 per month plus £1 towards the PayPal fees).  Please note, that whilst we are happy to accept any donation, if you are considering a monthly donation of £1 PayPal fees for twelve months would be £4. Obviously if you want to donate (a lot) more please feel free.

Do l get any benefits from donating?

Well, apart from an almost visible warm glow, as a way of thanking donators, the majority of adverts are no longer visible to donators and you’ll have the legendary Golden Muppet status bestowed on you (this is not automatic but is subject to the discretion of the Admin team), and don't forget to include your username so we can identify donators. This will be displayed under your rank for all to see. Please note that we cannot change your registered username. You can request a change of your display name (subject to approval) but repeated requests will not be tolerated. We will be looking at adding further benefits if and when we can.

Thanks

Mac & Martin

You can Donate by clicking this link, the Donations Tab at the top of the page or the Yellow Donate button in the left hand column.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE YOUR USER NAME, IF YOU FORGET, PM MARTIN WITH THE EMAIL ADDRESS USED FOR PAYMENT AND AMOUNT DONATED

A very big THANK YOU, to all of those who have made donations over the past couple of weeks, and have been waiting patiently to become a Golden Muppet.

You now should all be able to see the Golden Muppet forum.

There have been a couple of donations which we cannot match to users, kindly PM Martin if you cannot see the GM forum.

Have just made my donation to regain my GM status.

It's a fairly pitiful amount as I was made redundant recently, though I'll hopefully top it up as and when my circumstances improve!
