2000    New York Yankees
2001    Arizona Diamondbacks
2002    Anaheim Angels
2003    Florida Marlins
2004    Boston Red Sox
2005    Chicago White Sox
2006    St. Louis Cardinals
2007    Boston Red Sox
2008    Philadelphia Phillies

That's 8 different winners in the last nine years. Parity that the NFL and Premier League can only dream of.

Common sense would tell you that the largest market would have the most fans, right?

Can you call an Arsenal fan a glory hunter if they are from London?

I don't know, the more fairweather fans I see are the Redsox.

Considering I live 30 minutes from Yankee Stadium and 3 hours from Boston, and New Red Sox fans try to tell me that "they live In between both so they like the sox"

HAHAHAHAHA

BTW, nothing against sox fans, who are actual fans.

Just can't stand the bandwagon jumpers.

Just so you guys know, I've been a Sox fan since 1997 when, let's face it, Boston were pretty crap.

When I first got into baseball I mainly followed the Braves but with no particular loyalty. However, on my first visit to the USA to watch a game in person, I was treated so well by the people at Fenway (which shocks most of my American mates) and liked the ballpark and city so much that I soon became a Red Sox fan.

At the time, most of my baseball mates thought I was mad and sure for a lifetime of disappointment. Luckily it turned out to be only 7 years !!

As for "fair weather fans", the worst thing is the number of people walking round the UK wearing Yankee hats and logos. I seriously doubt that most of these people have a clue about baseball.

Finally, congratulations to Rickey Henderson on his election to the Hall of Fame. His acceptance speech is set to be one of the highlights of next summer.

Jim Rice was also elected. Even though he was a Red Sox player, he's not someone who immediately comes to my mind as a HOF calibre player.

As a kid and a Yankee fan, I loved Ricy Hernderson.  I remember actually almost crying when he wentback to A's.  I made sure every number I wore in any sport I played was 24 until I was about 12.

You know what is REALLY crazy?!?!?!

28 people DIDN'T vote for him to go to the hall of fame!!!

TWENTY EIGHT!!!

Thats 2 and 8

Who are these people? Do they know what the hall of fame is?!?!?

"Thank you, thank you. As Rickey looks around at Rickey's fellow Hall of Famers today -- Willie Mays and Lou Brock and Frank Morgan and Yogi Bear and What's-his-name and that guy over there and the guy next to him and that other guy, too. No, not him. He wasn't that good. Rickey means the other guy, the ugly one. Rickey just wants to say what an honor it must be for them all to be up here with Rickey today."
