Check out Dan LeBatard's column in the Miami Herald yesterday. He says that the Marlins should be given the benefit of the doubt due to their successful track record of trading stars away, replacing them with young players and then challenging again in a few years.

As LeBatard says, after all the Marlins have won the same number of World Series' in the last decade as the Red Sox have won in the last 80 years.

At the moment the Marlins' highest paid player in 2008 will be some middle-reliever I've never heard of.

Their total payroll projects at under $10m, ie about a third of what the Yankees are paying A-Rod.

However, the Marlins may still have the NL's best player in Hanley Ramirez (who they got from  the Red Sox in the Beckett/Lowell deal)
