Both good news for me, but it could all go pear shaped if the Cards come back and Theo turns out to be a goat, fingers crossed!

So UK RedSox how do you feel about Theo going, now it has finally been confirmed?

It was probably time for Theo to move on. Nothing he could do in Boston could ever match 2004.

Also, his recent free-agent signings (eg Lackey & Crawford) haven't panned out.

Having said that, the guy will never have to pay for a drink or meal in Boston for as long as he lives.

Hoyer joins the Cubs from the Padres as new GM so the old crew from fenway are back together at wrigley.

A real ding dong game 6 going on right now, the Rangers edge it in the 6th inning.

Wow.............. the greatest Game 6 since............... well, that one in 1986 that I don't want to think about.

Could be a contender for the best televised World Series game ever

I had forgotten what a great game Baseball is. I haven't watched a game since 1986 - I was a Mets fan - when I left America. But on a whim started watching the LCS and got hooked again. Last night was just magic - hope the Cardinals stuff the Rangers tonight!

BTW, I was shocked at Nolan Ryan. I know folk change over 26 years but I saw a lean mean pitcher play for the Astros at Philadelphia in '85 and I can't make the transition to what he looks like now.

Started watching but nodded off with the score at 4-4 in the fifth or sixth. Woke up with the Rangers 7-4 up and nodded off again. Woke up again with the score at 7-5 and Texas a strike away from victory... and promptly nodded off once more and didn't find out how things had panned out until this afternoon. Well done me. Hoping for better luck tonight and at least it isn't a school night.

Redbirds win, fair play to them but Texas will be kicking themselves!

Congrats to the Cards players and supporters (no way will I congratulate La Russa)

However, in agreement with TLS, the Rangers blew this big time. OK, so there was no one specific, defining play like the Buckner incident but they kept on coming up with new ways of screwing up game 6.

After that, there was no way that I could see them winning game 7.

La Russa might be a great manager but here's a post-Game 7 quote that gives me even more reason to dislike him.............

"“The game has never seen a better catcher than Yadier Molina.”

Where to start..............

Johnny Bench, Roy Campanella, Gary Carter, Pudge Fisk, Pudge Rodriguez, Yogi Berra, Jorge Posada, Mike Piazza................ the list goes on of catchers that were better than Yadier Molina.

Yadier's not even the best catcher in the game today. I'd take Buster Posey over him. I'd take a fit Joe Mauer and I'd take Mike Napoli.

Hell, Yadier might not even be the best catcher in his only family.

Add to that, the greatest catcher ever, John Gibson, didn't even play in MLB
