Well got to say i wouldn`t be surprised if all the speculation was true about how it happened they push themsleves to the limit look how the other guy who was found in his hotel room, he died through drugs.

Chris Benoit moaned about the way drugs were being used in WWE and look whats happened now.
You mean Eddie Guerrero, Chris's best mate! Two of the greatest even the trouble is there is so much pressure to keep in the right "look"!

Apologies for the John Blackwell-esque post:

Quote
STAMFORD, Conn., June 26, 2007 – World Wrestling Entertainment is stunned and saddened by the details released by local authorities concerning the double homicide-suicide involving Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son, Daniel.

However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some members of the media following the press conference held by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney. During the press conference, the investigating authorities made the following points, all of which run contrary to the media speculation that "roid rage" was a factor in the senseless murders and suicide:

1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions.

2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so.

3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.

4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.

5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts.

WWE is continuing to monitor the ongoing investigation being conducted by local authorities.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There were apparently some warning signs that something was wrong with Benoit.

Sources close to Nancy are reporting that she had a safety deposit box with evidence of past rages and that authorities should check the box if anything ever happened to her.

One of the text messages sent by Chris Benoit early Sunday morning said "back door open, dogs have been fed", referring to the sliding glass doors in the back of his home. No one was quite sure what to make of it, but he wasn't reachable afterward for clarification.

ABCNews.com's headline story has been updated with the following: "Her hands were bound together, her feet were bound together, and there was a little blood over her face," District Attorney Scott Ballard told ABC News in an interview after the press conference. "The medical examiner found bruising on the small of her back and bruising on the front of her body consistent with being crushed up against the floor."

CBS News has obtained a copy of the 2003 restraining order filed by Nancy Benoit against her husband Chris Benoit. In the protective order, Nancy alleges that the wrestler committed “acts of violence,” and that she feared for the safety of herself and her son Daniel.

Apparently Bubba The Love Sponge broke the Chris Benoit story on Monday. He was able to get confirmation of the story from Andrew “Test” Martin. Bubba was unable to contact his good friend Hulk Hogan for confirmation.

Brian Lawler will be a guest on CNN's Anderson Cooper Tonight at 10pm ET.

- Press Release: Like practically everyone who's a fan of wrestling, I was shocked and saddened to hear about the Benoit family tragedy. Just three short months ago, Chris Benoit was sitting across from me in my studio here at WDFN talking about Wrestlemania 23 and more. In addition to adding tributes to the Wrestling Elite web page at wdfn.com, I've re-posted the Benoit interview from March 29th on the podcast page for anyone who missed it. Scroll down to the section titled "WDFN Bits" on the podcast page to find the interview. Take care and thanks for your time. http://www.wdfn.com/cc-common/podcast.html

Interesting to see that Chris Benoit's profile on ECW's page has already been removed. During Eddie Guerrero's death, his profile remained on Smackdown for several months after his death. Seems like the WWE is trying to distance themselves from Chris.

WWEShop.com has removed all traces of Chris Benoit from the site. Chris Benoit's name has been removed from the Superstars section, as well as all his merchandise. The WrestleMania 23 DVD no longer lists his match against MVP in the match listing and the description for a plaque autographed by all of the winners at WrestleMania no longer lists his name. Furthermore, a search for "Benoit" or "Chris Benoit" leads to a blank page with the words: Search results for "discontinued".

---------------------------------------------------------
The story becomes more and more shocking...

In an interview with ESPN.com, Fayetteville, Georgia District Attorney Scott Ballard revealed new information on two text messages that Chris Benoit sent to Chavo Guerrero over the weekend. In the first message, Benoit told Guerrero that Nancy and Daniel Benoit were both sick. It is believed that Benoit sent this message after he had already killed both Nancy and Daniel. In the second message, Benoit told Guerrero that the gates to his house were open and that dogs were outside. It is believed that he sent the second message as a way of making sure the bodies were all found after his suicide.

Even more shocking is that Benoit's son, Daniel, was apparently found with needle marks in his arm. According to Ballard, the boy was being given Human Growth Hormones because the family thought he was undersized.

The article also states that Benoit used weights and the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment to hang himself.

Jim Ross has put up his comments on the Chris Benoit situation at JrsBarBQ.com.

WWE just issued the following statement regarding their decision to cancel their July tour of Canada: Out of respect for the surviving members of the Benoit family and the city of Edmonton, World Wrestling Entertainment® has postponed its Canadian tour scheduled from July 14-17. These dates include shows scheduled at the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon, the Brandt Centre in Regina, the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary and the Rexall Place in Edmonton. Please check WWE.com and WWE programming in the near future for further information on the rescheduled events.

WWE's UK DVD distributor, Silvervision, has removed the Chris Benoit: Hard Knocks DVD from their website.

ToysRUs.com has pulled all Chris Benoit action figures from their website.

WWE.com has pulled the "I Did It" Mr. McMahon shirt from their website.

TNAwrestling.com has pulled the note of condolence about Chris Benoit that they had put up on Monday.

Bret Hart was interviewed by Global News in Canada on the death of Chris Benoit earlier today. He spoke on the chances of steroids being the cause of the incident, but says that he will wait for confirmation on the stories before saying anything about it. He says that he can't imagine Chris doing the things that they are saying on the news.

He also speaks on the deaths of Owen and Eddie Guerrero, saying that this might be even more tragic for wrestling fans than the death of his brother Owen. The video is now online and you can see it by clicking here

On Saturday, June 23, Chris Benoit was slated to appear at a WWE live event in Beaumont, Texas. That afternoon, Benoit contacted WWE to inform them that his wife and child were ill, and that he would not be able to attend the show.

WWE executives rebooked Benoit’s flight for the following morning, allowing Benoit to miss the Beaumont event making alternate arrangements for him to attend the pay-per-view event in Houston on Sunday.

WWE employees attempted to confirm with Benoit his travel plans but were unable to contact him.

Early Sunday morning, between 3:51 and 3:58 a.m., Benoit sent five text messages to co-workers:

Text Message 1 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53am)- Chris Benoit’s cell phone
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215”

Text Message 2 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53am)- Chris Benoit’s cell phone
“The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open”

Text Message 3 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:54am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215”

Text Message 4 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:55am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215"

Text Message 5 to one co-worker (sent 6/24 at 3:58am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215”

Throughout the day on Sunday, WWE made numerous attempts to contact Benoit both at home and at local hospitals in the Atlanta area. As of 11:00 p.m., WWE officials were unable to establish contact with Chris Benoit.

At 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 25, WWE officials were notified of the text messages sent to the co-workers the previous day. By 12:45 p.m., WWE had contacted Fayetteville County Sheriff’s office requesting they check on the Benoit family.

Fayetteville County Sheriffs office made contact with WWE at approximately 4:00 p.m. advising that they had entered the house of Chris Benoit and found three deceased bodies – an adult male, adult female and a male child. WWE was told that Benoit’s home was now considered a major crime scene.

The decision to cancel the live event scheduled in Corpus Christi that night was made between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. In keeping with company policy, and with limited knowledge regarding facts of the case, WWE choose to air a memorial dedicated to the career of Chris Benoit. As facts emerged surrounding the case, all tributes to Chris Benoit were removed both on-air and on WWE.com.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following message from Vince McMahon aired at the beginning of tonight's ECW on Sci Fi:

Last night on Monday Night Raw, the WWE presented a special tribute show, recognizing the career of Chris Benoit. However, now some 26 hours later, the facts of this horrific tragedy are now apparent. Therefore, other than my comments, there will be no mention of Mr. Benoit tonight. On the contrary, tonight's show will be dedicated to everyone who has been affected by this terrible incident. This evening marks the first step of the healing process. Tonight, the WWE performers will do what they do better than anyone else in the world--entertain you.

The Albany, New York District Attorney's Office said Tuesday that Chris Benoit was a customer of south Florida company MedXLife, which has been implicated in a probe of illegal steroid sales.

Benoit, who apparently killed his wife and son before taking his own life over the weekend, was reportedly a client of the company as recently as last year. Anabolic steroids, apparently with valid prescriptions, were discovered in the home of the deceased.

Earlier this year, two of the MedXLife co-owners admitted to assisting customers in obtaining prescription drugs without medical needs.

According to the pair, Signature Pharmacy of Orlando filled orders for the clients.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

District Attorney Scott Ballard was interviewed on the Fox News channel and stated that a cable was found around the neck on Nancy Benoit. He said Daniel was found face down on his bed, also strangled.

Ballard said in the weight room in the basement, Benoit wrapped a cable from a weight machine around his neck. He first wrapped a cloth around his neck. When Benoit let the cable go, the weights lifted up and straggled him.

TMZ.com has posted the court documents of Nancy Benoit's 2003 request for a restraining order against Chris Benoit as well as custody of Daniel Benoit. Here is the link: http://www.aolcdn.com/tmz_documents/0626_benoit_dismiss.pdf

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A professional wrestler who killed himself and his family was a former customer of a company implicated in an upstate New York investigation of illegal steroid sales. That's according to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, which is conducting the investigation here. Authorities in Fayetteville, Georgia, say today that Chris Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son before hanging himself over the weekend. Investigators found anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscular man was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as "roid rage." In Albany, the DA's office confirms the 40-year-old Benoit was a customer as recently as last year of the south Florida company MedXLife. 2 of its co-owners pleaded guilty to drug charges in Albany County in April, admitting they helped get prescriptions drugs in 2006 for customers in upstate New York who had no medical need for them. The pair testified Signature Pharmacy of Orlando filled the orders. MedXLife, no longer taking orders, attracted customers through its Web site

ABC News has an article up titled Talking To Kids About Chris Benoit after child psychologists said that Chris Benoit's violent end could have profound effects on his youngest fans. You can read the story here http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=3318243&page=1

MyFoxAtlanta.com has video coverage of the investigation now online. You can view it atthis link

We can expect WWE to undergo another big round of Wellness Policy tests in the near future to clear their name of what, if any, role steroids played in the Benoit tragedy.

Below is a detailed WWE/Chris Benoit timeline from Saturday to Monday:

Saturday, June 23, 2007

Chris Benoit was scheduled to appear at the WWE Smackdown/ ECW live event in Beaumont, Texas

3:30pm
A co-worker received a voice message from Benoit. The message from Benoit stated he missed his flight and over slept and would be late to the WWE Live Event. The co-worker called Benoit back, Benoit confirmed everything he said in his voice message and sounded tired and groggy. Benoit then stated, “I love you”. The co-worker stated that it was “out of context.”

3:42pm
The same co-worker was concerned with Benoit’s tone and demeanor and called Benoit for a second time. Benoit did not answer the call and the co-worker left a message stating “just call me back.”

3:44pm
Benoit called the co-worker back stating he didn’t answer the call because he was on the phone with Delta changing his flight. Benoit stated he had a real stressful day due to Nancy and Daniel being sick with food poisoning. They discussed travel plans for the WWE Tour of Texas with Benoit still sounding groggy at this point according to the co-worker.

4:30pm
A co-worker who consistently travels with Benoit, called Benoit from outside Houston airport and Benoit answered. Benoit told the co-worker that Nancy was throwing up blood and that Daniel was also throwing up. Benoit thought they had food poisoning. Benoit stated he changed his flight and he would be arriving into Houston at 6:30pm. Benoit told the co-worker to drive onto the WWE event.

5:35pm
Benoit called WWE Talent Relations stating that his son was throwing up and that he and Nancy were in the hospital with their son, and that Benoit would be taking a later flight into Houston, landing late, but would make the WWE live event in Beaumont.

6:10pm
A representative of Talent Relations called Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations asked Benoit what time Benoit was getting into Beaumont. Benoit responded he was leaving Atlanta at 9:20pm Eastern time arriving into Houston at 9:24pm Central time. The representative from Talent Relations advised Benoit that it would be too late to make the WWE live event in Beaumont. Benoit apologized citing he had a family emergency. The representative from Talent Relations suggested to Benoit that instead of going to the WWE live event in Beaumont, Benoit should take the flight to Houston, rest up and be ready for the Vengeance Pay-Per-View event.

6:13pm
The representative from Talent Relations called Benoit to reconfirm the travel plans with no answer from Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations left a voice message to take the flight and rest up.

4:00pm

-----------------------------------
Canadian female Pam Winthrope told News 1130 in Canada that Chris Benoit's son had a genetic condition called Fragile X syndrome.

According to WebMD, "Fragile X Syndrome is a defect of the X chromosome which causes mild mental retardation. The disorder occurs more frequently and severely among males than females. This condition is the leading known familial cause of mental retardation in the United States. Language delays, behavioral problems, autism or autistic-like behavior (including poor eye contact and hand-flapping), enlarged external genitalia (macroorchidism), large or prominent ears, hyperactivity, delayed motor development and/or poor sensory skills are among the wide range of symptoms associated with this disorder."

Winthrope, whose son also suffers from the condition, told the Canadian news outlet that her husband reached out to Benoit five years ago in an attempt to increase awareness about Fragile X.

She told News 1130, "We talked to him because I was trying to set up a support group in BC and in Canada, we only have a couple of them. My husband was struggling when we got diagnosed with our son, and Chris was struggling with his. They talked for a few minutes and then he said he didn't want to be a public face for Fragile X, he just wanted to keep it really, really quiet."

Winthrope noted that the lack of support for those affected by the disorder can tear families apart. Nonetheless, "she couldn't believe the news that Benoit had taken his life along with his wife and 7-year-old son," wrote News 1130.

This may explain why Daniel was taking growth hormone injections. It also may shed light onto why Chris didn't want someone else raising his son and made the fateful decision to kill him. As irrational and twisted as it may sound, he may have felt he was saving his son from the double-blow of losing his parents through a murder-suicide and being subject to being raised by people who didn't understand or care for his condition.

As bobcat said before i think wrestling probs three main families
Harts
McMahons
Guerrero's

Chris was the link between the Harts and Guerreros and also the McMahons you can see Vince can't believe what's happened when he read the statement about the tribute show that that wasn't the man he knew.

The wrestling ain't for real! How can someone be one of the best in a completely acted out scenario?

Because to do the moves which are planned takes a lot of skill!

So it's akin to Ice Skating or Ballroom Dancing?

The BBC should do a Strictly Come Wrestling.

Why does everyone have that view on wrestling. I doubt not one of you could do what they do! Not one (and don't do any lame "kill your wife/kid" pun)

It's been done, it was called "tough enough" i think.

It showed how hard you have to train and committed you have to be to wrestle professionally (touring, pressure to find a new gimmic/storyline). I think if you call it fake it's like watching a play/movie saying it was good and someone saying "but it was fake"  "...yes, genius ! i know that..."

But of course all that is something you can't comprehend/take on board, wonder why that is !

Are you for real?

It's long haired, semi-naked blokes pumped full of steroids rolling around on the floor and pretending to be hurt. It might take a lot of training but  then so does ballet and I can't stand that either.

So you lot can't stand wrestling - why are you forcing your opinions on people who do like it and want to talk about what happened ?!?

Nothing better to do then comment on something you aren't interested in...

Says a lot.

Yes it's highly skilled, yes they are doing stuff that none of us could ever dream of being able to do and yes I suppose it's very entertaining if you are into muscled, sweaty men hugging but it's not a sport.
