That would be amazing, mate. The Niners just seem to have forgotten how to lose.

The Chiefs are the only team I fear at present. Maybe the Bills.

If the Packers sneak in, then them, too.

Chiefs are the only team I'd really be concerned with. I think the Niners could cope wit the Bills & probably the Bengals.

Not sure about this idea

I thought they would just call it a draw.
No one would really gain as, I think, both are guaranteed top spot in respective divisions

Nothing upsets an American games fan more than a draw.

Or Mexicans, a draw or Mexicans.

Or atheists. Atheists, Mexicans or a draw.

Both teams can still finish as top seed and get a bye. Do think personally that being 2nd and 3rd seeds wouldn't be the end of the world, but hey ho.

Also, if Bengals lost both remaining games I think they could end up as 5th or 6th seed.

I think the NFL are hoping that results mean they end up as 2 and 3 seeds and they agree to decide it between them somehow

Bengals v Bills has been cancelled

Looks like the NFL will deal with the home field advantage problem by playing the AFC Championship game at a neutral venue in either the Bengals or Bills make it that far.
Normal seeding rules apply if they both make it

All seems pretty straightforward to me .....;)

From The Grauniad
Quote
The AFC Championship Game will be played at a neutral site if the participating teams played an unequal number of games and both could have been the No. 1 seed and hosted the game had all AFC clubs played a full 17-game regular season.

Those circumstances involve Buffalo or Cincinnati qualifying for the game as a road team. If Buffalo and Kansas City both win or tie this weekend, a Bills-Chiefs AFC title game would be at a neutral site.

If Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Baltimore wins or ties, a Bills-Chiefs AFC title game would be at a neutral site.

If Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Cincinnati wins, Bills or Bengals against Kansas City in the AFC title game would be at a neutral site.

Also, if Baltimore defeats Cincinnati in Week 18, the Ravens would have two wins over the Bengals, a divisional opponent, but will not be able to host a playoff game because Cincinnati will have a higher winning percentage for a 16-game schedule than Baltimore will for a 17-game schedule.

Therefore, if Baltimore defeats Cincinnati and if those two clubs are schedule to play a wild-card game against each another, the site for that game would be determined by a coin toss.

However, if the Bengals win this weekend or if Baltimore and Cincinnati are not scheduled to play each other in the wild-card round, the game sites would be determined by the regular scheduling procedures.

It's a mess and surprising they don't have better contingency plans for cancelled games*

*I realise a cancellation in the NFL is almost unprecdented, but especially considering we are only 2 years removed from the COVID season.

I guess at least it is not determining who is in or out and teams can use it as extra motivation for playoff games.

If KC win and Buffalo lose then the league breathe a sigh of relief as that eliminates a lot of the issues around the 1 seed.

National holiday in Japan so can wake up early and banish the Villa woes by watching the 49ers, and then later hopefully the Lions smashing the Packers.
