The most important thing this summer is to move Bailey out.

It really isn't. He may not be consistent in his final product but he causes teams all sorts of issues. If we qualify for Europe he'll be hugely useful.

He's easily our worst player. If we're not going to upgrade Bailey as a start, who are we?

We've bemoaned the lack of options from the bench. My take is that we should recruit for the first team, and that might mean moving people to the bench, rather than shipping them out.

I'd say we need a couple of players if we're moving him on, but rather than doing that I think he can do a job from the bench.

Bailey is ok but to do better than 7th we need to score more and consistently. For that to happen we need better players than Bailey and dare I say Watkins. To starry with let’s get Chuckewze and Baena.

Emery has squeezed every last drop out of this current group. It’s an incredible achievement. But I can see us adding some quality at CB, a new RB, at least 1 in top player in midfield, a back up keeper, 1 or 2 wingers and proven striker. We will spend something in the region £200m. I imagine the likes of Bailey, Traore, Chambers, JPB, Dendoncker, Olsen even Buendia gone. Our squad is way too thin in terms of depth and genuine quality. It’s going to be a busy summer.

Who knows with Bailey. He might have a great summer and come back on fire next season.

Doesn't do enough for me, but like Drummond said, he'd be hugely useful if we qualify for Europe.

Bailey has had a couple of assists over recent games and his attacking play has clearly benefited from the level of coaching he has received. It’s also seen him start to trust his right foot a little more meaning he’s less easy to nullify. Still infuriates at times but is better player now than when Unai arrived.

It's one goal and two assists since Christmas. A piss poor return, frankly.

We'd still need at least one more player in that position even if Bailey had had a great season, and I'd hope that pretty much anyone we buy is an upgrade on who they're replacing.

I guess the calculation is do we buy someone else there AND keep Bailey in the hope that there's still something salvageable, or buy someone else, fob Bailey off to Ajax or Leipzig and likely still need to buy another player on top of that.

I'd be more inclined on the former, but wouldn't be devestated by the latter.

It’s also all the times the attacks break down because of him and how much he gives the ball away and that puts us under pressure.  He is 10% good - 90% pub player.

He hasn't squeezed anything out of Coutinho. And I'm not sure he's improved Buendia or Bailey that much. Actually, yeah, sack him.

Coutinho seems incapable of staying fit.

This is absolutely right.  Replace them with better players, absolutely, but move them to the bench, or even out of any given match day squad before they need to be let go.  Sure, if someone offers us our money back, snap their hands off, but we are in no rush get to rid of anyone - just to move them down the pecking order a bit.

I really do not think the upheaval will be that significant.
If there is good chemistry with the group then i do not believe Emery will want to disturb that.

I hope that our summer recruitment includes shipping Bailey out, and that we bring two players in who are better than him. He's completely dismal. He's a forward who hardly ever scores, and a winger who can't beat a man. We'd be better of with El Ghazi in the team.

I suppose it's whether or not Traore is considered to be good enough as back up really.  If not, then Bailey could go to back up and a new player come in.

It's an interesting one really, as we don't always play with a wide player, so not sure that we will be spending top dollar on a wide player who isn't going to start every game.  Might be that we go for another forward who can also be employed there on the occasions that we play with a wide attacking player.  Either that or we bring in a lower profile wide player who is going to be content not starting every week.

and yet on Sofascore, whoscored and fotmob the rating difference between him and Harvey Barnes is tiny (it's about 0.2 on the latter but pretty much the same on the others).

I think wide forward, central forward/ number 10 and Right back are the essential needs.
Then its about strengthening the squad.
