important to stay up. more money going into the league next year. lots more. to put it into perspective Leicester got promoted this year with nowhere near our points last year. SHA are broke. Also 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' got relegated last year and 2 of their players quit football, one to open a hairdressers, there was more money in that for her. Eni has done a good job with Uni's in Brum, so players sign knowing they can get a degree while playing football.
That's the level of money you are looking at.

£1m would buy you all of the top 5 players in the world with a combined salary of £2m a year.

Yeah well done ladies, that's lifted my depression, not a lot, but it has lifted it. As with the men, let's hope for improvement next season.

I said earlier in the thread that the women’s first season in the WSL would mirror the mens first in the PL.
A lot of new faces came in, so with a bit more investment we should move up a few places next season.

Iwabuchi rocks, she should be our Grealish.

She's massive here. No mention of the men's match whatsoever on the sports news this morning, just a slot about Iwabuchi.

Hopefully get a big name replacement. Hope Powell seems to have done a decent job at Brighton?

Surely he did the job he was employed to do.  Just shows though these owners won’t mess about.

He was only an interim manager, so presumably would have had to do something spectacular to keep the job. He didn't, he won fewer games than Bristol City in the same period.

Aston Villa Women can confirm that Head Coach Gemma Davies and Assistant Manager Jenny Sugarman have left the club following the completion of the season.

Gemma joined Villa in 2018 and secured promotion to the WSL last season after steering the team through an unbeaten Championship campaign and led the team into the Super League season which ended yesterday with a draw at Arsenal and a 10th place WSL finish.

Jenny joined the club in 2019, working closely with Gemma throughout this period.

The Club would like to thank both Gemma and Jenny for all their efforts while at Aston Villa and wish them every success for the future.

Thanks for getting us promoted and good luck. Feel sorry for them but it's a cut throat business. They played their part in the club's history getting us promoted to the top flight for the first time ever.

Gemma Davies is very young isn't she?  Isn't she still in her 20's?  She'll get a new coaching role somewhere and has time on her side.  I wish her well.

It’s a shame for Davies but shows the club are serious about taking ALL of our teams onwards and upwards.
Struggling or mediocrity are no longer going to be acceptable.

And apparently on her way to Arsenal.
