Southampton 3 Villa 8 Dean goes crazy, because we didn’t get the 10 needed to give us the boost for the Cup final.

Dont lose - simple as that. An away draw I'll take. Their home form is excellent.

Their home form league wise really isn’t that excellent, won 3 drawn 2 lost 8. Out of the last 6 league games they lost 3 drawn 1. Their defeats and 2 wins being fairly spread out, so no real consistency.

Overall they have won 2 more games than us all season, lost 2 less. There isn’t a massive gap between us, though granted you wouldn’t of thought this at VP in December.

None of this means we’ll get anything, but we shouldn’t be going down there thinking we’re facing some sort of excellent side. They are capable of top draw performances like against us and Chelsea away, or dross like losing at home to Burnley the other week. This has to be one of the games we’re looking to win.

My fault - I read the scores on the last 6 games as home score - away score but they just put the winning team first - pffft. They won away at Leicester and Crystal Palace. At home to Spurs 1-0 but nothing special. Not that that should give us false hope!

We need to turn our season around starting on Saturday. The commitment may be there but the discipline has been sadly missing. Sir Graham would have said,  "you got yourselves into this mess, now get yourself out of it". No excuses. Time to show what this Manager and team are all about.

0-3 Villa win.

Really like this.

Interestingly, Dean did say something vaguely similar in his press conference: "There is an expectation on them and the players have not handled that expectation as well as they could have."

Wasn't he talking about Southampton rather than us? Dean should concern himself more with getting his tactics right. Close the game down and Southampton will struggle. Go all gung-ho and they'll catch us on the counter attack. Apparently it's why they're better away from home than at St Marys.

He was talking about Southampton though not sure why he had to say exactly that !

Anyway this has draw written all over it. Similar to Brighton away I reckon.

I'm pleased to read that Soon have three 'key' players out injured.
"Ralph Hasenhuettl confirms that Kyle Walker-Peters has a calf injury and will miss Saturday’s game v Villa

Redmond out for an indeterminate time...

Boufal likely to be out with a heel problem - hasn’t trained yet this week"

That could be the key heel in a VAR decision!!

Redmond is a big miss for them, he's created as many chances for them as Jack has for us this season (though they haven't scored as many of them as we have of Jack's).
