I winced again re the Engels mistake when watching motd2 on catch up this morning, but it’s gone now. Someone else posted it’s probably too late in the season to start cutting out the things that have been going wrong, mistakes etc, not to say we shouldn’t try...but I think that’s probably right, and we’re going to have to hope our attacking flair pays dividends in 3 or 4 games out of the 12 to go.

I saw some really good stuff yesterday at Villa Park; great technique, consistent quality and composure under pressure.Well done to all the "Prize where it lies" contestants.Forgot about that! I think it took the collective will of those still watching to get that one to stop in time.

Interesting that the guys on MOTD2 picked up on our defensive failings. Huge holes in our back line just asking to be exploited by quick, clever forwards on the break. Considering we supposedly have one of the best PL defenders on our coaching staff it does beg the question why we are so vulnerable at the back. Even with Mings playing we've still conceded far too many goals this season. I still think we will be safe but its going to be a bumpy ride over the coming months!
Why is Smith blaming VAR? Ok, he might be a bit pissed off but the blame is on a Premier League footballer who can't trap a ball he's watched coming at him for half the pitch.
Apparently Son broke his arm in the first minute. Just our luck he toughed it out for the last 93 minutes!
Saw Smith's VAR rant on MOTD2 - unnecessary and not the reason we lost. Still baffled how we can have 2 former defenders as coaches and can't get this sorted. The inconsistency and lack of concentration are killing us. On a positive - love Samata's attitude and ability - he'll do well.

Yes Engels made a horrific individual error but they were under pressure all game with Spurs totally bypassing our midfield, eventually most players will crack under sustained pressure, there's a mistake in everyone. There's no protection in general for the centre-halves and it's been a massive recurring problem in our season. The amount of times we concede possession in the middle of the park from unforced errors, and the subsequent chances presented to the opposition, is the source of most of our woes.
Can't fault the general performance on Sunday but DS subs were shite and silly mistakes again cost us. Southampton is again a 'must win' but we have had so many now and failed . Can only see us going down with our run of fixtures
