Edit - forgot to add that I hope Martin Atkinson isn’t involved in any of our remaining games this season (though heard someone at the game say he is reffing the League Cup Final).

It's Lee Mason apparently although knowing out luck Atkinson will be the VAR ref.

It’s not spinning anything, it’s a fact. As for your three teams, Norwich are virtually gone, I’ve seen nothing from West Ham to suggest they are suddenly going to start beating all-comers, and then it’s a fight between us, Watford, Bournemouth and Brighton (assuming one of about half a dozen teams in mid-table don’t get dragged in, which is still possible if you look at the lines of Newcastle in their second half today).

It’s been said by others, but we seem to specialise in catastrophising - we will never win another game whereas everyone else will go on a huge run despite all evidence to the contrary. I’m not saying everything is perfect, but equally it’s not all doom and gloom. As it stands we probably have a 2 in 6 chance of getting relegated, and I’ve seen enough from this team to suggest we are up for the fight.

Positives - Reina was tremendous, Grealish too. Although he wasn’t flawless, Luiz had maybe his best game for us, he had Grealish type swagger on the ball at times. Samatta looks a good player, better than Wes but like Wes was isolated and would probably be considerably better with a partner.

I was calling for the 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs a while back, when you consider the full backs we have and the number of good centre backs but I’ve never liked this 3 pronged attack and I wonder whether it’s a bit daft with wing backs and wingers. We’ve got 4 players putting balls into the box and one player in the box. Why not play how we used to with Little, creative player in behind 2 centre forwards. Then you’ve got 2 players putting balls in the box for 2 or 3. Grealish in behind the two new lads or even Hourahane or Luiz in behind Grealish and Samatta.

Back to today, we were unlucky not to get something. I thought a lot of the team continued as they have all season, looked good one minute and poor the next. Drinkwater wise, well I was one of the biggest critics with the signing but I thought he showed a bit of improvement today on what we’ve seen before. He couldn’t run like, but he did pass it quite well mainly first half. The issue for me is that he’s easy to by pass, particularly by any decent team, and if he’s no improvement on what we already have then why are we playing him? He’s on loan and he’s pushing 30, Nakamba is our player and still quite young. He’s not going to learn sitting on the bench.

Finally - FILTHY FUCKING SPURS ****** !!!!!!

Can someone please explain exactly what Engels actually did?

He did what every defender train's hours every week not to do, 'don't take your eye of the ball', he got pressure from Son, lack of focus, eye of the ball and his foot over the ball slipped through him.

We seem to swing massively in games from being completely on top to being completely under the cosh.

Honestly, I know it’s disappointing to lose in the way we did, but there is some absolute fucking shit being written on here. If you’re that convinced that everything is rubbish, we’re shit and definitely going down then don’t bother watching anymore.

The game I was at we should have been 2 or 3 up before they scored, only an unbelievable save from their keeper and a pass from Jack when he should have shot kept them in it. We had more possession, more corners and more shots, and in the end we’re undone by a dodgy penalty and a mistake from a defender starting his first game in months.  Unfortunately it’s a tough league, and sometimes these things go against you.

What’s pissing me off more than anything else though is this attitude that Smith is useless and we have got a team that is not up to it. Have you seen us in the last 10 years? Do you remember what we looked like a little over 12 months ago? This team, by and large, is full of young players getting a full season at this level for the first time and they are trying their bollocks off - just look at the previous 2 home games for evidence. They are going to get things wrong, but they will also get better together the longer they have.

Utterly this. I'm pissed off with seeing us capitulate time and time again by there is actually hope at the club and Smith is doing a lot better than anyone else we have had for a while and deserves the season.

So disappointing after how well we played and after watching the penalty back, its even a bit more gutting. We didn't deserve that and neither did they.

But what happened, errrr, happened. Playing well is all well & good: but it's those critical moments when we don't that cost us - time & time again. Did it actually surprise you that we failed to hold on for a point in the very last minute of the match? It saddens me to say that I thought it was all-too-predictable.

Of course what happend, err happend, but bar the fuck up at the end, we get a deserved point out of that. That's said, we should have finished them off in the first half.

But we got nothing: & so bloody predictably! What you get & what you deserve so often seems to count for nowt. Nothing will give me greater pleasure (ish) than seeing us battle our way to survival, but my feeling is that we ain't got what it takes presently. I'll be absolutely delighted to be hopelessly wrong (obviously), so here's to my diet of humble pie for a several weeks after the season ends. :)

Why are so many saying relegation is ‘nailed on’ ‘racing certainty’ etc.  I saw enough fight there to take this to the wire unlike the last time we were relegated. There is only one team that is nailed on and that’s Norwich at the moment. Other teams around us have changed their managers which is always a risk

Its not a question of negativity or plenty of fight we are now reaching a point whereby events against us are taking a major effect in results, doesn't matter how may chances Spurs missed and what they deserved that's there problem, nothing to do with Villa, point is we missed chance after chance, we had a seriously good first half against a very ordinary Spurs side and still ended up losing, put on top of that disastrous errors in the dying seconds of a game along with poor refereeing decisions and what you have is the classic writing on the wall element that seems to take over teams that get relegated and its not going to get any easier, not at this point in the season.

I genuinely don't understand why you thought we got nothing "predictably"?  In the last two home games we've reach 90 mins level, and won them both.  We've won more than we've lost in injury time this season.

If Engels doesn't miss that ball, we get a point and I'm sure everyone would have said it was well-deserved.

Absolutely going down and deservedly so.

You can’t throw away points like that, absolutely not good enough. Again.

This, unfortunately.

When it comes to them 'small margins': we perpetually fuck it up (on the countless occasions that we haven't already capitulated). Game management?! Don't make me laff. Going down. Fact.

Its not a fact though is it, we have frustratingly thrown away points all season, we have continuously shown poor game management most of the season and yet the only fact is that after all that we are still out of the relegation zone.

Are there 3 sides in the league that look like the'll be gone before us? Not for me as it stands...

As it stands..... The 3 that are below us perhaps?

Did you have a few drinks at the match by any chance?

Not before - but one during the game, Luke. Needless to say, I had a few after though!

We got nil points. Spurs got three. At the end of the day that's all that matters....Results.

I cheerfully agree that the former 2 home games ended brilliantly for us, but they feel like the exception to the rule (to me) this season. I'm reasonably confident that if we can stay up this year - we'll do more than just consolidate our status come the next 'un. I just hope we can find a way to snaffle points from remaining games that our effort & endeavor richly deserves.

We simply can't get results v the usual top 6/7 like other teams can. Watford drew 0-0 with Spurs all of three weeks ago, Newcastle have beaten Spurs, Chelsea and Man. United already this.

It might not have hurt too much mid season but with games running out it's looking very crucial now. A 2-2 would've been a good building block for Chelsea to follow on from the Leicester cup game. Now I fear another hard luck story.

Just beating Palace and Sheffield United at home is unlikely to be enough .Can't really understand why DS keeps on saying results v alleged top teams isn't going to define our season.

I was sure for weeks this was a game we’d get something from. That’s a calamitous defeat. Every time we have a chance to pull away we blow it, every fucking time. These are the type of games teams that get relegated lose.

I guess Smiths clutching are straws a bit with the reference to beating teams around us. Saying that he’s probably targeting palace at home and Southampton & newcastle away as games we need something out of.

We’re all gutted tonight, but I’m sure Bournemouth fans felt the same letting in a late goal last week, Watford fans the week before letting in a last minute winner, West Ham letting in a late equaliser to Brighton.

It’s ended up being a shite day, but we not done
