Then the applause towards the end of the game, nobody around me knew what it was for.
Wesley trapped a ball.

I think Ron would be embarrassed at the amount of fuss made out of a misunderstanding of the minutes applause protocol.

It wasn't perfect, but the intentions were honest and the fans love for the man was never in doubt.

Exactly how I felt about it Pete.

I am glad we got to welcome him back and show our respect in the Lerner years.

My memory of that day is him ushering the players up to the Holte End to lap up the applause. I think it was Ivor Linton alongside him on the pitch.

My favourite moment of that type was the 82 team before the match against Sheffield United, with the European Cup.

I was very, very close to crying.

That day meant a lot to me too having been there in Rotterdam. It was also a rare visit to Villa Park around that time due to Saturday being my busiest work day managing a betting shop.
