RWC in Brum?
« on: October 14, 2019, 07:18:27 PM »
Will be over for the Brighton game on Saturday and bringing some first-timers over with me. They're interested in watching the IRE v NZ rugby before the match, preferably somewhere that's not on the wrong side of the city for getting out to Aston afterwards.

Any recommended spots guaranteed to be showing the game? (Ideally not somewhere that's going to kick shades of shit out of 4 Irishmen and a Kiwi please!) ;)

It's been a decade since such days of mine, but the Walkabout on Broad Street was somewhere we went on more than one occasion. I assume they're showing it.

There's football on at half twelve so to be sure of seeing the whole game it might be worth going Walkabout as they have multiple tellies.

Failing that, somewhere in Digbeth would likely show it as they have Irish pretensions. Would probably be a good atmosphere in there if Ireland do well. Hennesys has lots of TVs and an outside big screen, which might be okay if the weather is slightly less shit. Not technically the "right" side of town for Villa Park but neither Blose nor Coventry are at home and you'd easily make the Villa game after the rugby whether you went by taxi, train or bus.

Or you could just drink somewhere like the Aston Social but they may switch over for the football, not sure.

Personally I don't think I would fancy taking on four Irishmen and a Kiwi in a fight. ;)
