I'd imagine it's just that pace bowlers get more protection than other players.

I could understand it if there was a tour starting in a few weeks but there’s not. So why didn’t he play?

Shame really. Seeing as there are no crowds to compensate, I think maybe they could have Sunday as a reserve day, is that allowed?
