A bit odd though that the pitchside announcer (a Villa employee presumably) after the Brighton game asked him if he would be staying on for another year. Surely whoever that was should have been given the memo that contracts weren't to be talked about if it had been decided that nothing was going to happen before the end of the season? Young announced to the whole stadium that he wanted to stay, but that it was the club's decision. A few days later and it's announced that he's been let go. I bet he felt a bit of a wally and is probably why he's reacted like he has in that statement.

That's the bit I think was off as well, I think it was pretty well established that we weren't talking about contracts until the end of the season so the announcer really should've known better.

It really is the mildest of digs isn’t it?
