Was hoping for a bit better with that low shot from the edge of the box, went for placement. Probably running knackered but lacked composure too for that late lob, rushed it. Can't be too critical, worked hard, some deft touches around midfield at times. Is evolving and would love to see if he can put away more in front of goal, definitely has it in him.

He should have rolled that for Wes who was coming in at pace to strike into the far corner.  That would have been the better option. I'm sure his primary school lob over the keeper effort will have given him a sleepless night. He did play well overall mind.

I too have been critical of him (I think because his reputation preceded him and I expected more the finished article) Thought he was our best player after Jack on NYD.

The lob - if they go in look world class if they don't then they look awful - just like the "dink" penalties where if they fail the taker looks a right twat

I think 2nd half of the season could be really good for Douglas

What is the reputation out of interest?

He made about 25 appearences for a team that was relegated from La Liga last season (some off the bench). Hadn't been capped at senior level by Brazil.

If it was just because Pep was going mad about him, he does that about all his players. He was saying earlier this season Phil Foden was one of the best English players around yet hardly starts him in the premier league.

Doug is not that much more experienced than the guys who've played over 100 games in championship we signed like Konsa.

Pundits worldwide have been praising him highly and that's where it came from. That main guy I Spain was trying to compare him to dunga from what I remember (or was it Gilberto silva?) Pep compares him to fernandinho and he was very highly rated by scouts. Personally I had never heard of him but I dont follow Spanish football so had never seen him play

He looks to me like the player Westwood wanted to be when he was with us. Really early in his career so he won't be perfect all the time, but I think he's a proper talent. Just hope he starts showing that fully with us soon! Been fits and starts so far.

If he'd scored with the lob chance  , VAR would have chalked it off.

He is little different to many other promising players worldwide, hasn't played at all much at top level and you can see that in aspects of his play.

However I do think he's pretty talented. Seems to have been a case of we can't quite fit him into an effective midfield trio but I'd stick with him otherwise we'll just be scratching our heads when he's playing for someone else in two years time and playing to very good level like much of our 2015 intake.

Good when he came on. That’s how he must be used, he’s a playmaker not a defensive midfielder.

Better today. Still very young so he's going to make mistakes. But he can be happy with his contribution this afternoon

Put a couple of solid, mean, ball winning bastards next to him in the middle, Douglas Luiz will flourish. He’s being asked to do a role that doesn’t empathize his strengths. Today again, fleetingly we caught a glimpse of what he can do.

I thought i'd weigh in with some praise as well as he's had some stick on here (and justified as well in a few cases). That was a class ball to Grealish. Give him time and I think he'll be very good. I read on Twitter that he's younger than Callum O'Hare. Not sure how true it is, I'll have to look it up.

He's definitely got the ability, he just hasn't been used in a way that brings the best out of him. A constantly changing midfield three doesn't help either.
