The issue has been his 11 yellow cards this season
Just needs to watch the discipline.

Still avoided the 10 card and 15 card cut-off points though. I can't remember whether he missed a game for getting 5 cards but it's not the end of the world.

No one presses like Meatball. Don't think he has the discipline/legs for a general/defensive midfield role but he's not exactly a number 10 either.

When he plays as well as the other night though he's possibly the first player you'd want on the teamsheet.

When Dier tried to come out with the ball at his feet, and McGinn chased him down from behind it put me in mind of a scared and confused wildebeest being attacked by a lion.

Meatball has been brilliant in the past few games. Back to the McGinn we all love. Long may it continue.

Meatball's performance yesterday was reminiscent of Des Bremner at his best.

Non-stop for 90 minutes, tackling anybody, anytime, anywhere and having no respect for the foreign dilettantes playing for Chelsea.

He set the tone for the team in terms of aggression and effort and showed why he needs to be playing in front of the opposition back line instead of in front of our back four.

Meatballs are foreign and we all love them, right?

Also, if Scotland go independent, wouldn't McGinn then be foreign?

I'm not quite sure what makes them dilettantes either.

Finished the season very strong after a mixed enough season. Passing still very dicey at times so I don't think a role in a midfield two is where he needs to be . Would be great to get him higher up the pitch next season with Grealish as that is where he does his best work. Recovered well from a bad enough injury last season and his conditioning improved too.

He'll be even better next season with a decent break to recharge.

He'll be at the Euros so not much of a break even if they get knocked-out early.

Agree that he needs to be in that more advanced role next season, with Sanson challenging for that position as well.  He could lead the press from there, with hopefully Grealish and a quality new signing either side of him.
