...Have McGinn and Grealish ever played particularly well for us at the same time?
I never want to experience that again, so the feeling at West Ham was one of relief. But also of pride — because it’s naive to think we don’t listen to criticism or read negative stories.“We were driving to games and, whether it was talkSPORT or some other station, not one person gave us a chance of staying up with four games to go when we were seven points behind.“We used that negativity to stay up. It came down to professional pride.“No one gave us a chance — and that made it even sweeter.“Wes Edens private-messaged a lot of us after West Ham to say congratulations.“And basically to tell us that the club wasn’t going to rest there. He said they’d support us with new players and improve the depth of the squad to kick on.“The owners made it clear that they want Villa back where we belong, challenging at the top end of English and European football.“It’s not going to be easy. But we’re behind each other, backing each other. We’re on the same page.”

McGinn's form isn't just a rut any longer. Was tried in at least three different positions tonight and was rubbish. Putting passes out of play when under no pressure. Not showing for possession, not taking players on, not breaking into the box.If ever there was a player that needs competition for his place it's McGinn.
Fuck me, he's had two major injuries to get over before being rushed back in, give him time. He's class, he'll get there.

He was back in training in March and played his first competitive league game in June!!!He's then played just as much first team football as everyone else for the past six months. I get that he's a fan favourite but how long does his free pass last?!
I suspect his appetite for the hard yards has declined sharply. No racism intended but Celts are prone frequently to be tempted by less than full fitness lifestyles. Many exceptions of course of totally committed Scots, Welsh and Irish players but lots have form for battered Mars bars diets. He will be back. Of that you can be sure.
