For having two very good former CB's in the management team we are a fucking mess at the back right now. Sort that out and we are going places.

Well for a start, we could try not having 3 of the back 4 playing it of position.

Cafu I can handle because he seems to play better at left back than right. Tuanzebe just doesn't look ready at the moment so I wouldn't have him in the team full stop. And how many times do we have to have the sick joke that is Jedinak at centre half?!

Credit to Bruce, it was a good performance tonight. But the result wasn't good enough if we want to go up and you wonder how much of that was down to Bruce picking a side from the largest squad in the league and still playing four players out of position.

I'm not sure that Tuanzebe is a centre back, and having him and Chester both being so right footed I'm not sure those two will work.  I think we need a centre back on loan, preferably a left sided one.

the whole world knows Tuanzebe isn't a centre back. why he's been playing there is anyone's guess.  Mine is Brucie has the job of converting him to one by Boreinho otherwise we wouldn't have got him. The only other explanation, and probably more likely, is Bruce is a fuckwitt

I don't think we should have any 'Bruce Out' talk given that we have had a decent start to the season after such an uncertain summer. Although I don't doubt for a second that the new owners have stuck with him for convenience on a trial basis and the jury is still out from their point of view. I think the best time to change managers is in mid season before the transfer window reopens or in the close season. I think he has half a season to prove himself to the new owners and I am sure he is well aware of that.

Isn't Robert Huth a left footed centre back?

Vidic-Ferdinand, Baresi-Costacurta, Cannavaro-Nesta, Mellberg-Laursen, Terry-Carvalho, Moore-Charlton, Chester-Terry...

Personally I'd rather have Him there with only his right foot than Jedinak who is no-footed most of the time (but oddly takes a good penalty and a decent free kick). I can't work out how Jedinak has played an entire career in central midfield and never learned how to weigh a pass.

Jesus, what standard are you talking about.  They are world class players, other than the last two. Spend as much as those players are worth and I'd expect them to able to adjust. Tuanzebe isn't that player at this time.

Sorry but he finally totally lost me tonight. I could put up with the godawful football if it was a means to an end, even though its become apparent that there's no real end except just jump on some new promotion transfer policy depending on who owns us - this season, give it to Kodjia - like 2 seasons ago. However, continuing selecting a formation in defence that cost us 2 points tonight and will continue costing us points is the final straw. The One thing i always gave Bruce credit for was being able to set up a defence. No more.

(Sorry, can’t be arsed to do the quote thing and I’m slightly pissed after a lovely evening in the pub and using my phone)

Lovely stuff, accused of being patronising by the most patronising poster in the history of H&V.

Cheers.

can’t knock Bruce for that

entertaining game of football to watch,
attacking Football from the off
Brentford are one of the better footballing sides in this division and we were better than them tonight even though they played well

more like that and we will go up

Agreed John. Hope the holiday was pleasant for you and yours.

My fear is that it will be the same again.
Bruce doing enough not to get sacked until it’s too late.

Saying he's done enough not to get sacked makes out like he's doing the bear minimum, when, early as it might be, we're taking enough points per game to go up automatically.

I see he picked up a player yesterday from one of his mates in France.

I’m still in the out camp.

Whilst we were better with the ball yesterday I still don’t think we created enough chances that the possession should translate too.  Contrast Brentford 1st goal less than a dozen paces back to front and the ball is in the box with players attacking.

Watching last night I think we were better in keeping the ball but this only really led to pressure in their half as the pace of play is too slow that allowed Brentford to regroup.

It’s tough for me to get excited about the new signings as I’ve no confidence Bruce has the nous to use them correctly.
