Would love to see him as Villa manager one day. One of my favourite ever Villa players, rare that a player gets it like he did.

Olof Mellberg will secure promotion in his first year as manager. His team is top of the Swedish third division with two games to go, level on points with the second team but with a better goal difference (38 to 33). Both have 57 in a 26 game league and the third team only have 40 so cannot catch them

Its very early days and nothing to write home about at this stage, but the Viking Warrior is learning his trade and learning it well. So all power to his elbow.

I think they have to win the league to go up. Second place goes into playoffs.

They finished top and got promoted without the need for a pesky playoff, even though Olof was in the stand having got himself suspended for the final game.

Still, promoted in his first full season, well done Olof!

There seems to be a suggestion though he may be banned from coaching next season as you can't coach in the top two divisions unless you have the relevant coaching badges.

Hopefully he will get them or they'll make an exception based on his service to the country.

the team is promoted and what happens to Olof over the summer there is no doubt he made a mark. And though it is only the Swedish third division, the last 8 games were all won (after a 1-1 draw) and the record was 21 goals for, 4 against, 5 clean sheets, and in the decisive final match to decide the title, 3-0 against Vasalund at home. In the stand or not, Olof was the victor.

after all 26 game played, goal difference +42 (Vasalund +31), Bromma 63 points, Vasalund 60.

You can only beat what is in front of you, and on 6th November in that final game and all through the season, Olof made his mark. Well done that man.

Year one done. Now for year two.

Having got them promoted, he's now got through to the Semi-Finals of the cup, beating two top flight clubs on the way.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him get a bigger job, coaching badges allowing.

Mellberg's team will be 8 points clear after 11 games after today's match.  They're beating their nearest rivals away 3-0 at half time.
Only stumbled across his team viz a bet today.

A second successive promotion is looking increasingly likely. A belated Villa revenge against the dreaded Helsingborg, with a four-nil away win against them yesterday.

A very good player for us, as SHQ says, would have been nice to see him and Laursen as a pairing.

Their times didn't quite align, but I would have liked to have seen a defensive unit of Friedel, L Young, Mellberg, Laursen and Bouma play together, with Barry just in front of them.

Mellberg took over last season at Brommapojkarna in Sweden's third tier.

Tonight they beat Dalkurd to clinch a second successive promotion and ensure that they will be in the top flight next season. They've now gone four points clear of second-placed Dalkurd and look in an excellent position to clinch back to back league titles.

They also made the Semi-Finals of the Swedish Cup, defeating four teams from a higher division along the way.

Very impressive start to Olof's managerial career. 👏👏👏

He went to manage Helsingborgs in Sept 2019, left Dec 2020. And i've no idea why he left, if he was shit there or not, or what he's doing now.
