6 weeks to my A race in Weymouth, aiming for a top 5 finish and hoping for a podium. Remained injury free so far, no shin splints yet only a bit of lost mojo at the weekends faced with 4+ hour rides and then running straight off the bike. Loving the open water swimming in the sea rather than in a chlorinated piss filled pool.

Noticed your volume was well up on Strava Jon, looks pretty intense. Are you 70.3 or the full?

As ever makes my poxy Oulton Park Sprint Dua in early Oct look like a stroll.

70.3, the intensity is there as I’ve 2 races close together.

Good luck with it. I’ve only just started full training again over the last 6 weeks and the fitness/conditioning  I’ve lost has been enormous and being an even older git now means it’s really hard to get it back. Some tough sessions the last week or so.

A lovely day on the Jurassic Coast on Sunday for IM Weymouth, shame I couldn't match it with a performance.
Swim was below par.
Bike was OK but had a puncture at 16 miles and it took the wind right out of my sails, struggled to make up time on a hilly course but tried!
Run just wasn't happening, tried higher tempo and tried to increase stride length but I couldn't maintain it so settled in at 5:10-5:15 km pace.
Nutrition plan worked to perfection.
And my Wahoo watch failed to record the run even though during the race it sent me pace alarms and an alarm every km.
10th in Age Group so I was doing something right.

Today I did a spin on the Wattbike as a bit of recovery, my power is all left sided, I've nothing to give on the right, I wonder if I've trapped a nerve somewhere or a muscle is spasming in my hip area, a few twinges on Sunday that I just put down to racing, nothing major but would explain the outcome I got.

Noticed the strava recordings were all over the place on Sunday. (Run in the water and the bike ride broken down into two separate runs). Down to your watch?

Do you think you might have broken top 200 overall without the issues?

The Wahoo Rival was all over the place as you saw, no idea what happened there.

Possibly, felt OK all morning just couldn't really press on despite feeling well fuelled and no niggles no gastro issues either.

Don't worry Jon, it happens sometimes. You are still a superman and well done for finishing even though things didn't go to plan. Lesser mortals would have pulled out.

I'm sure your next one will be better.

I need to get back to running as my fitness has dropped off a cliff this summer. Still been playing football must Tuesdays and finding that a struggle at the moment.

Come on Risso, focus.

I’ve really struggled this year with injury and illness which just keeps setting me back, however, the last 10 or so weeks have seen me getting back to something approaching acceptable and a Duathlon a week on Sunday will hopefully finish this year off nicely. Have visions of doing some 10k events and long distance trail races next year.
