Do you honestly believe certain sections of our support are desperate for our record signing to fail??

Judging by some of the comments on here and what I overheard last week at the ground against Wolves, yes.

I think it's more a case of expecting more from him, or to hit the ground running due to how much he cost, as he's meant to be the finished product, not one for the future.

If he was an 18 year old from the academy he'd get much more slack, but I still think you'd get a lot of comments that he currently doesn't look up to starting regularly for the first team, needs to bulk up and be stronger, could do with going out on loan etc.

If you knew very little about football and had to guess between him and Ramsey which player was our record signing and which was a youngster coming through the ranks, you'd be hard pushed to pick.

For the record, I would very much like him not to fail. Not that that should ever have to be said about one of our players. But I also haven't been overly impressed with what I've seen from him so far, plenty of misplaced 10 yard passes. I'd agree that he's not being played in his favourite position or the position he's best suited to, and these things aren't his fault, but even so it hasn't been the most promising start.

If the work experience kid doesn't know how to do a vlookup you'd calmly show him, if the IT manager didn't know how to do it you'd call him a useless ******. So, to sum up, Buendia needs to brush up on MS office quick smart or get the fuck out of VP.

His stats for assists and for tackling and tracking back were great before he joined us. I think playing on the right that is good but playing  in a midfield 3 isn't his strength at all. Ratboy was the same.

It just seems remarkably obvious. Out wide, you just need your winger/wide forward to assist with giving the full back a bit of support. In the middle, you’re dealing with brick shithouse defensive midfielders. I can’t imagine that he’d be any less supportive on the wing than Traore, so why not play him in the position he excelled in for the club you bought him from?

As he'd have to drop Ollie (deservedly too as he's been poor) and he lacks the courage or authority to do that.

Our front 3 against West Ham ought to be Buendia right, Bailey left and Ings through the middle. It ought to be McGinn and Sanson as a double pivot (the later against Chelsea looked head and shoulders the best midfielder on a pitch that included Kante) to compete with their running and let Dougie sit.

Then against Southampton to combat the 4222 you'd want Ollie to press wide and mix it up accordingly.

Smith is too stubborn to kill his darlings.

I think Sanson will be on the naughty step with Engels and Guilbert from now on, before a loan move away in January "to work on his fitness". The footballer's equivalent of an unwanted dog for Christmas "going to live on a farm."

I really hope they can resolve it. Understand the frustration and let him loose with it. He's a lot better than the other 2 and I suspect much better with the ball than McGinn. We need to play with a 3 and he deserves a go.

He made a good contribution for the goal today, but  unfortunately there was not much else.

His hasty exit and the look of thunder on his face as he left the pitch after being subbed also suggested all was not well.

I don’t fucking blame him. If I was taken off before Young I’d be furious.

Yes it was a nice assist, but other than that it was much of the same. Getting knocked off the ball or giving it away cheaply. So far, a waste of money. Looks like a lower league player doing his best.

He seems to lack pace and strength on the ball

At the moment he is not alone

He lacks a midfield willing to support him.
