I really enjoy the detail of bygone times in John's articles. His diaries are worthy of preservation in the National archive!

I particularly remember the 5-1 defeat of Manchester City. It was chucking it down and we were stood on the terrace under the Trinity stand.  Crammed in under the cover to avoid the rain.  A fantastic atmosphere.
For their goal I have a distinct memory of Law receiving the ball in an offside position, whether he was offside when the ball was passed to him who knows.
The other main memory is my boyhood hero, McParland of course, thundering a shot and the net leaping gratefully in acceptance of the ball.
Wonderful article, thanks for the memories.
