They used to sell all that Yankee doodle shite in the club shop in the nineties and it's as dodgy looking now as it was then.

You know there is an entire demographic that doesn’t think like us and certainly don’t dress like us. In the UK and across the world. I like that we are trying different things for different audiences. It’s how we expand the name and I know people hate the term, but the “brand”. Our revenues will need to come from all kinds of new markets if we are stay at or near the top of the football food chain. Because if we rely only on the historical fan base then our prices for everything goes up.

I disagree. Things should only be done the way I like them.

In all seriousness, it's a good job most fans aren't like me - I've never bought any food or drink inside VP and buy none of the merchandise. I have the Champions of Europe home shirt and a claret & blue striped scarf and that's it.
Ha, this is about right for me - I was given my scarf for free (“Aston Villa FC - Coca Cola Cup Final 1994”), a claret & blue hat that my gran knitted, and the anniversary shirt (first shirt I’d bought in over a decade, and bought that primarily because it doesn’t have a sponsor on and won’t go out of date).

A man after my own heart.

It isn't even that I'm tight. I'm no Dave W - as recently as 2014 I gave 5p to a homeless man so that he'd leave me alone.

I just eat before I go to a game, don't want to risk buying a pint lest I need a piss and be forced to venture into the Gents, and I get a deeply uncomfortable static charge and nipple rash from the synthetic shit they make football shirts out of.
