I have a vague memory of the Boxing Day game being either an 11:00am or 11:30am kick off.

Edit: It was originally a midday kick off and was delayed by 15 minutes according to this Guardian retrospective.

That was 3 days after we beat United at home 3-0 on boxing day....wonderful times.
They really were...I was lucky to be stood on Holte Lower for both games..the Arsenal game was a good contest from memory..the Utd game we toyed with them, they were awful, ran them ragged.

That was the game where the United fans chanted, "We want Fergie out!" long and loud at the end.

We beat Chelsea 3-0 away on New Year's Day, too. I remember thinking their goals looked like Subbuteo goals.

Ha!

You've started a real controversy here, cdb; do you mean the crappy plastic 70s ones that kept breaking or the more robust 50s/60s efforts that had some metal in them?

I think the ones I had were eighties, sorry! It had Nigel Spink vs Watford on the box.

That has to be the FA Cup game but they did some editing on the Watford shirts.

As a child I always wondered whether it went in or not. Now I know (about fifty seconds gone in video below).

I was Upper Trinity for that game. I was convinced we were going to win the FA Cup after we won.

Yeah, I shared that feeling, if only on the basis I couldn't get over the fact we'd beaten Watford 'easily' when the score could have been about 6-6!
