I tried to buy one on a few occasions and they've been blocked from sale.

Yep that's happened to me too.  On a related subject why don't they say what the attendances are any more?

This 200 empty seats malarkey sounds like nothing but a get out clause to not spend the money. All grounds will have a few empty seats dotted around for a variety of reasons. Weddings, illness, holidays, vehicle breakdowns etc etc. Same goes for all clubs but that hadn't stopped Everton, West Ham and Man City planning new stadiums or expansions. Why are we any different? In Man City's case the club buy a big block of season tickets ( if you've been there you'll have seen it high up above the dugouts) which are sometimes given away and sometimes covered in blue tarps. It's really starting to boil my piss all this procrastination as it just reeks of small time thinking. Big clubs think big. Barcelona for example are in the process of a billion euro rebuild but the Nou Camp rarely sells out for league matches. It's about having the capacity for when they need it. That's what big clubs do. Come on Nas and Wes you've been amazing so far. Step in and make the big call. Make us a big club again.

Liverpool have had part of the Anfield rd closed this year , is this included, do away fans count ?
I was at the Everton Cup game, crap atmosphere and empty seats aplenty, probably because of the ticket pricing.
European games, well while great not exactly Barca or Real Madrid as opposition. Did the fact that no Warsaw fans attend get included ?
Do the right thing Villa and plan big
I guess one of the reasons is that they do not want to lose the revenue for closing a stand for one season or more and have kicked the can down the road.

Good read - thank you. I read on here previously that the name change from 'fan consultation group' to 'fan advisory board' was quite telling. On the outside looking in that looks very much like a meeting to tell supporters groups what the club are doing next, rather than to gauge opinion.

The not selling out thing seems a little confrontational from the club towards the fans. The only thing that seems to make much sense is a possible low uptake of the new hospitality options, of which the new north stand was probably going to be loaded with. Either that or Villa have a preferred option to move forwards with and just need an easy out to put the brakes on. In which case, again, it's quite poor communication from them. But as mentioned, if they're just going to advise fans rather than seek opinion, who cares if their communication is poor.

The 200 is a non issue IMO. Article mentions the fact that there is only 1 PL club at 100% sell out in line with my point that in large arenas anything close to 95% is a "sold out" state. Anyway easy solution is to release those seats to the waiting list.
