Man Utd away - Travelling to Old Trafford
« on: December 19, 2023, 08:42:43 PM »
Only been up to the shithole that is Old Trafford twice in my life (*and one of those was the FA Cup Semi where Fowler scored THAT goal), both times via coach.

This time, I'm going to have to drive up as late in the day as possible due to Boxing Day family stuff - Any tips on best places to park, etc (as well as recommended latest time to be heading past top of M5)?

Any suggestions much appreciated - UTV!

We always go to Altrincham and get the train/metro stops just outside Old Trafford cricket ground. Free carpark at train station. So easy..

Agree with Dorset here, park in Alty (some good
Pubs as well if you have time) and get the tram. It is a bit chaotic afterwards but if you hot foot it back down the Warwick Road from the away end you shouldn’t have to queue long. Oh and as it’s Boxing Day and you’re heading north on the M6 I would allow at least 2-3 hours to get from the top of the M5 to Manchester.

Brill, cheers both - Sounds like a plan!

Re. Parking at Altrincham station... I'm going to be arriving up there fairly late - Around 7pm-ish all going well. That car park looks like it may be pretty full by this time? Any alternatives if this is the case? Cheers (and Merry Xmas!)

You can try the station called Navigation Road I think it's a couple of stops closer to Old Trafford. That has two car parks and we have never had a problem getting a space even with a mini bus

I'm staying at the Premier in Altrincham but you can also buy parking there as a non-resident via yourparkingspace.co.uk. I've just checked and they're quoting £2 for 4 hours from 6-10pm.

I've parked over at the shopping centre in Salford Quays before , its a 20 min walk but you get away fast after the game . And it used to be spend £10 in the shopping centre and 4 hours free parking .
