Premier League Passing
« on: June 07, 2022, 10:43:20 AM »
I found this article on Premier League pass maps interesting, and when you see our map compared to the top teams, you can see a big difference;

https://theathletic.com/3346644/2022/06/07/premier-league-pass-networks/

Interestingly for the McGinn doubters out there;
"Highest share of pass value: No player was more important to his team’s ball progression than Aston Villa’s right central midfielder, John McGinn. His hyper-direct distribution accounted for 21.1 per cent of the team’s positive pass value as he repeatedly pushed the ball into areas where Villa were more likely to score. McGinn’s 74.0 per cent pass completion rate, near the bottom of Premier League central midfielders, was a trade-off Villa were happy to accept."

Couldn't this have gone in the John McGinn thread?

When I read the title I thought it might have gone in the 'Deathwatch' thread.

I suppose it could!

Though the article is more about how different teams pass in the Premier League, not really our very own McGinn.
