One of the better pitches in the third division
RIP George. Granite as a player and was delighted for him when Coventry won the cup.

A Coventry City legend, deservedly so, but thank you George Curtis for the contribution you made to the Villa history. 57 games I believe he played for the Villa, 4 goals scored, the signing of Curtis, and his steel and determination to win, was a pivotal point in turning us into a team that was able to get out of that third division (which wasn't one for the faint hearted). George's free kick, that gave rise to our second goal, and the explosion that followed, in that game against Bournemouth in 1972, will never be forgotten by those who were lucky enough to be there that day.

Filled, and I mean really filled, the number five Villa shirt with pride. One of the hardest Villa players I've seen. Broke his nose v Notts County in a pivotal game in our promotion season and returned weeks later to play in the side that clinched promotion at Mansfield. I sometimes wondered what opposition players thought when George trotted forward at corners to join Andy Lochhead in the box! Condolences to his family.

A Coventry stalwart throughout their lower league years when they finally got promoted to the promised land of the old first division. IIRC, he broke his leg just a couple of games in to that first season. No one got the better of George in a physical duel, a man you would always want on your side, for whatever reason.

Before my time but clearly has a positive impact during Villa's 1970s reawakening.
RIP George.

Thank you and Rest In Peace George.
A true hard man of the game who knew how to treat people off the pitch.
Never forgotten.

I recall a match where Kenneth Wolstonholme described George as 'a great tank of a man.
Thanks for everything, Iron Man.

I was up the Holte for that game. Utter mayhem when Lochhead scored that second goal. Was going to mention his 'Iron Man' moniker myself; never was a player so suitably named. RIP and thanks George, who knows how we would have fared without his presence?
