Sporting Memories needed!
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:09:06 AM »
If you've got any great (or not so great) memories of watching or playing any sport do you fancy adding them to the Sporting Memories Network site which uses Sport to aid people with Dementia?
They need as many contributions as possible, some bloke called Zidane has added a story as has John Gregory.

Whilst you're there you can download a free cop of the Sporting Pink to reward yourself for a good deed done!

Rather than start a new thread, I know some of you are aware of a charity my brother established called Sporting Memories and have taken an interest in what they do and have also been very supportive.

Anyway on 5 Live tonight at 7.30pm there is a programme presented by Elly Oldroyd and features my brother doing something or other in the studio, hopefully not an unplugged session!

Listened to it last night Chris.
I know it's been said on here before but your brother's organisation does some fantastic work.
And your brother was very good at his something or other!
:D

Thanks Frank's nephew, I'll pass that on to Tony!

It's on the iPlayer.

It was excellent, some very moving stuff, and the story about the Scottish tennis player who got dementia from a very early age but can still play tennis like a pro was absolutely amazing.

Frightening to think it can strike so young, some really moving stories, when Elly was chatting to the chap at the Sporting Memories group who couldn't remember his wife's name or his age but loved chatting about football brought home the power of what they do.
