I saw Joey Barton saying that Lambert's doing a good job yesterday ...
This perception is quite common amongst TV/Radio presenters & pundits etc..
As is the perception that we are better away from home due to our counter-attacking style.
They're lazy and they don't want to talk about us but feel obliged to pass comment before moving on to more interesting topics.

I think that's it.

I haven't watched much of Everton this year - so I could only speculate what is going on over there - why would a neutral watch our matches?

(The pundits should, but obviously don't)

I think TTV is seeing Pulis from a purely practical point of view, not for the aesthetics involved.

I tend to think along those lines, very simply because Pulis (or similar???) would have given us a sense of organisation, purpose and made a lot more of the players and their attributes that Lambert seems to be completely incapable of.
It's no good having players like Gabby (pace) and Benteke (strength/skill) in the team if they never have the ball.
I'm a desperate man clutching at straws Monty!

Pulis plays awful football and spent £100 million to keep a retrograde Stoke just about in the Premier League.

We have a terrible manager as it is who has shown with two poorer squads than this that he can keep us up, so why jump out of the pan and into the fire?

I think we're already in the fire Ads!

Lambert seems to have no idea about how to use/set up our playing personnel to any great effect.

I would say we have better players than Leicester, for instance, but they were rarely troubled by our 68% possession that produced little or no threat, and when they had possession themselves created danger on a very regular basis and could easily have won the game by 4 or 5.

I'm not really advocating Pulis as some kind of saviour, I just believe that almost any manager with some tactical nous would have us playing better and in a much healthier position in the league.
There is no doubt that if our current form - 2 points from a possible 9 against teams below us and no goals scored - doesn't change, we will go down.

Do you not remember when we went to Stoke in Lambert's first season and blasted them 3-1? We were pretty rubbish ourselves, but imagine being a Stoke fan that day.

They were a turd that wouldn't flush. Pulis wouldn't be an improvement. It would just be going back to long ball rubbish to Benteke.

I think if we went for him we could get Pulis. After all, he's not working in football at the moment ;-)

That was a great away day Ads!

What's happened to us since?
The attacking flair we showed at that stage of that season led us all to think there were good things to come in the future.
It just hasn't happened and although I've been 100% behind Lambert I have finally lost my faith in him as a manager who can set a team up to win games.
As I say, I'm not a Pulis fan at all, but I can't help thinking he would have us playing more effectively than Lambert is...but then I think almost any half-decent tactician would.
In the last 10 minutes on Saturday we resorted to lumping it up to Benteke as our best chance of getting a goal!
