I think John Barnes turned him inside out before scoring in the 1-1 on debut.

Interview with Andy Comyn from 1997, he says exactly that!

A footnote in Villa's history, he wasn't the worst central defender I've seen at Villa Park, but obviously not good enough in the long-term.
