While I agree that it is a grossly overused term, Laursen is an Aston Villa legend in my opinion. In a way he had begun to personify a lot of what I love about Villa. Our dignity, pride and respect. His very evident love for Villa is what lifts him above other players who were 'merely' good or even exceptional. As a footballer he was superb and I loved when he played for us. That goal against Ajax..!

he is unquestionably a legend in my eyes. When he walked around the pitch when we relegated newcastle, I cried. I really did love him because he felt as much as me for the villa, if not more. The goal against Ajax into the holte will live forever in my memory and the unbelievable defending against chelsea when we beat them at home. True legend and only second to Mcgrath as a defender, Southgate is third, all the rest can be argued. The feel good factor would be unimaginable if he became manager.

That was a good read, totally forgotten than his was an DOL signing. 

A very good leader, and a pretty all round great defending, who always showed passion, and scored a few goals too.  In the recent era one of our finest, and a top bloke too.

I could see him going on to be a good manager, he carries himself in the right way and seems to have good knowledge. 

I remember when we won 3-2 at Everton in that dramatic game, and he insisted that "we were not lucky" top man
