2001-02 full season review
« on: May 15, 2014, 07:19:08 AM »

Heres the latest upload from Villaboy on Youtube whos doing an amazing job putting all his old vhs on for us all to watch.

Season of transition this one, good start under Gregory, meandering middle of season, Graham Taylor comes back and promising end to season with a couple of wins. Dreadful kit, Angel and Vassell forming a good partnership, Schmeichel in goal scoring at Everton, 3-2 over Bolton putting us top, horrible FA Cup experience vs Man United, good away win at Chelsea on final day.

It was also the season of the cameras being on the wrong side of Villa Park.

Tremble before us Slaven Belupo!

Schmeichel was pretty cack for us, used to cost us a goal a game.

Hadn't remembered that we got past Rennes on away goals, pretty rare for us.

Angel was really useful that season and Vassell was good enough to break into the England team at the end of it. I thought  Hadji and Kachloul good signings but neither did much the long run did they? Mellberg's debut season and what a bargain he turned out to be.

I'm sure we did our usual trick with Hadji of buying someone who had a decent game against us the previous season and then they turn out to be shite.

These are amazing, watching the 95-96 one now. My first season ticket, what a team we had back then. Goosebumps seeing that magnificent breakaway goal v United.
