I think the paper called it a Savo salvo.

Had a bet on 3-1, would have won about £30.
I didn't care though, as I thought Savo's hatrick would propel him to greatness.
A load of bollocks on both accounts.

May as well chuck in the away game as well, I love when Yorke scores after 15 seconds the Cov fan puts his head straight into his hands. Plus the comedy attempt at saying Ehiogu just before Savo's first.

Isn't it 10 years since the League Cup win at home to Chelsea this week too? Angel's wonder goal and McCann(!) with the winner. [Just checked and it's 10 years ago today, Dec 17th.]

Dolly's first season and after going into the relegation zone at the end of November, this game was the catalyst that helped spark our turn-around in the league. I remember watching it in an old man's pub in my first year at university and I think Maxine Carr had been charged or sentenced that day for her role in the Soham murders.
A decade...Christ...

The 4-1 vs Coventry is probably in my top ten favourite Villa matches ever. It was amazing. So much happened.... Yorke off with broken nose, Rico sent off for Coventry despite arguably Tommy Johnson deserving red as well, great goals, Holte in fine form. Matches on the weekend before Xmas were always special at VP (same goes for the 5-0 v Wimbledon the following year), I remember getting home just in time to see Predator on ITV. Great day.

I missed that 4-1 game as I discovered I left my season ticket in another jacket walking up to the Holte.  Oh Bollocks!
