Scottish Managers
« on: January 09, 2013, 01:03:09 AM »
I think I've found the source of all our troubles and it pains me to say it's Scotland. Since Ramsey, the record of our Scottish Managers has run the range from mediocre (Massie) to abysmal (every single goddam other one of them). I really want Lambert to break the cycle but it's not looking good. I reckon Ferguson would have bombed here.

The solution may be to look to where our fondest recent memories come from - Liverpool. Saunders and Atkinson. Surely we can dig up a scouse manager from somewhere. What's Peter Reid* doing?

I noticed the Scottish Manager syndrome too and I think the only relegation we have had under a non-Scottish manager was when I was a lad in the 58-59 season.  Since the early years the Scottish influence has not worked well for the Villa.

For the n(2)th time, Ramsay was not a manager.

Didn't say he was Dave. I'm well aware he was Secretary. But every Scot after him was a manager. Sorry for any confusion in the wording.

So anyway, Scottish managers - for or against?!

Couldn't care less where they're from as long as they're decent.

Surely the nationality of our manager is totally irrelevant?

We've had plenty of sub-standard English managers, and bad players from all corners of the globe. Just because Berson wasn't good would you turn down Henry?
