Last week MUTV showed our quarter final game at Old Trafford in 77. Despite missing Andy Gray and Chris Nicholl, Villa took the lead with a thunderbolt from Brian, it must have been from 30 yards out. Funny thing is, I have absolutely no recollection of the game but bloody hell, what a goal, it must be up there as his best. No prizes for guessing the score - we lost 3-2 with Man Utd scoring the winner in the dying minutes. Can't find it anywhere on youtube.

Ruddy,

I thought we lost 2-1. It was around the time of the League cup final saga and we took a surprisingly small crowd to OT.

That Brian Little goal was a cracker and I have never seen it since.

Bugger, you're right, it was 2-1. I wasn't paying too much attention after Brian scored as I knew we lost the game. I then watched the 3-2 game a few years back when Mecheda scored the late winner.

You're also right, it was at the same time as the League Cup Finals.

Everton League Cup Final (Wembley) 12th March 1977
Everton League Cup Final Replay(Hillsborough) 16th March 1977 (120 minutes including Extra time)
Man Utd FA Cup 1/4 Final (Old Trafford) 19th March 1977

At any other time and without the injuries to Andy Gray, Chris Nicholl and Alex Cropley, we'd have stuffed Man United and probably gone on to win the FA Cup instead of them.

The man who walks on water, Sir Brian, is attending the NEC Sports Memorabilia on the 24th and 25th November 2012. We have obtained the print of Brian scoring the winning goal against EFC in the League Cup final. See http://www.memorabilia.co.uk/birmingham/guests/sportsmemorabilia/.

To be fair in the midst of a league cup final, a league cup replay
