John Haynes, 100% Villa, one of Great Barr's finest.

Passed away 11/01/08, aged 37. Sadly missed.

RIP John. Why do I have the feeling I recognise that name? (And yes I'm from Great Barr)

Johnny Haynes was a Perry Barr legend, contemporary of Joey the Bat & Cockney Dave etc. However, he'd be mid-forties by now so this won't be him.

Tragic for someone so young to die, though.

John was well known to the lads in and around the Drakes Drum having lived much of his life in that part of Great Barr.

In recent years John also worked in the game that he loved as part of the Scout 7 business, supporting scouting and recruitment for professional clubs. There was a mention in yesterdays programme.

John's funeral took place on Friday. a great turnout and a proper sendoff of which he would have been proud.

That'd be where I recognise the name from then. My Mom used to do the accounts for Scout 7 and went to the funeral. Said he was a very funny man and knew everything there was to know about sitcoms. RIP.

I knew John (not very well though) because of mutual friends. Top man, and very talented too. Absolutely loved the Villa as well.

Much missed. RIP.
