BBC are saying 30,909. That can’t be right surely? Looked like a good few thousand more to me. I was front row in the upper North and although I didn’t look behind me, everywhere else apart from the away section looked pretty full.

I’ve been there when there’s been 30k, looked nothing like that.

The independent Football Web stats page for Villa’s home attendance has the same figure, so it must be from the club. There’s nothing on the UEFA page, yet.

I looked through the post match comments and found that Crown Hill had a more believable figure, quoted during the second half by Matt Maher of the Express & Star.

 I’m going to go with 35, 578. He must have got it from the club at the time, which was just after they announced the lower figure. (Goodness knows where they got the lower figure from.) I imagine he was verifying it and they corrected it at that point.
