It at least had a hint of civilisation about it back then rather being in full on Mad Max mode like now.

Haven't been there for 30 years. Back then they seemed to attract the medium sized indie bands that never seemed to play in Birmingham.

How is Wolverhampton looked upon by Brummies? I've never been there.

Wolverhampton Ring Road is a lot easier on the eye than Coventry Ring Road, which I know isn't saying much. However it is slower moving in Wolverhampton and you risk colliding with a tram.
