I’ve always liked Buendia, I hope he’s given a chance to shine and can grab it. He’s a tidy player and makes things happen. It doesn’t always come off but he’s a bit different.

I like him too but I don’t think he gets in our best 11. If he’s willing to be part of the squad on that basis then it will be handy having him around but suspect it will probably suit him and us to let him go if we get a suitable offer.

Bailey has been frustrating from Day 1 unplayable at times but then unable to play at others

Buendia frustrates me more than Bailey because you get glimpses of quality but then he'll overhit a 5 yard pass or play a ball onto the weaker foot of someone wanting to take on a shot. It's not catastrophic errors but they happen far too often and and so needless. What makes it worse is that when he's having a bad day his response is to buzz around more and run himself into the ground, which should be a good thing, but because he struggles to compose himself everything becomes more and more rushed. McGinn has a similar style but he's taught himself to take a breath and pick his passes better and it's why he's gone from someone that many thought might need to be replaced as we progressed to being captain and key part oft he squad.

Pretty much agree with you. I like his energy, the fact he obviously cares, his passion etc, he’s obviously got ability. However, with our game largely based on maintaining possession, I think he gives it away far too often, I could see Emery getting frustrated by that, often trying to fit the ball through the eye of a needle.
I think he could be a squad player for us and I will also get a bit of a buzz when he comes on from the bench, just because he does buzz around himself like an irritating fly. But he’s not as skilful or strong and dynamic as Rogers at 10, he’s nowhere near as accomplished as Tielemans in terms of his range of passing from deeper and he’s too slow to play out wide.
Whilst its comparing apples and oranges, Bailey did have that one unbelievable season in 23/24, Beundia has never reached those heights.
So if he stays, ok from the bench, but equally would wish him luck and lose no sleep if he went.

I won’t shed a tear if Bailey goes. He had one very good season where his play was highly influential in getting us to the CL. But the other *three* he’s not been good enough and no idea why his form dropped off so much last season. Buendia I would like to keep but yes a good offer for either would likely be accepted.

The attempts at 50/50 passes like that aren't the ones that bother me. It's things like yesterday where he got the ball on the left, worked it into the box and then cut it back for Tielemans but onto his left foot not his right, or one against Roma (just before he scored) where he needed to roll a 5 yard pass in front of Watkins and he played it behind him instead, giving the defender a chance to cover.

It's those silly mistakes that he does too many of that annoy me about him, because if he fixed those he'd get 15-20 assists a season and be a great option at 10.
