We drank in the Shakespeare and got the later train rather than drink in Wolves.

It's on it's arse, which is a shame as much like Nev despite the piss taking I actually like the place, my missus was at uni there in the late 90's and we had some great nights out up at the Canal Club

One and only time I've been to Molineux was that very league cup tie in '89. Jeez 'shithole' would have garlanding it with excessive praise...

The only time I've been to Wolverhampton was on the day of the 1990 World Cup final.

My mate was doing teacher training there and we watched it in his grim student flat before going out with some posh bird he was shagging (from 'Penn' I vaguely recall, is that a place?) and her mates.

My daughter-in-law hails from Penn, or the posh part of Wolverhampton as she calls it.  It's not the worst place I've ever been.

In my ignorance I once asked a woman who lived in Penn what the difference was between Penn and Pennfields and quickly wished I hadn't.

Every few years Wolverhampton gets its act together and starts looking like a decent, albeit small, city centre. There are some good pubs - the Western, Posada, Lych Gate - but it's still got the feel of a place that was decimated in the eighties and hasn't recovered.
