I always had a soft spot for Hunt after his second spell with us, a very classy and underrated player. He had probably just left Villa before Springsteen played at Villa Park, but you'd have thought he could have pulled a few strings to get backstage still.

He lived literally up the road I now live on during that second spell, me and a pal knocked his door for an autograph when we were kids.

He was a good player, have a vivid memory of him getting an equaliser at home to Watford on a Wednesday night in front of about 12,000 late in the season.

I bought a table and chairs from him back in the 80s. Sold through his Mother and picked up from her at her house in Castle Brom'  I often wondered what famous footballers might have sat in those same seats.  The wonderment left me when I left one of the chairs too close to the gas fire resulting in the melting of the faux leather.

"It's in the book..." ;D

He was part of a cohort of great players that came through during the wonderful '70's. That era will always be the beating heart of my Villa memories.

I have a vague memory of him flicking up a ball from a free kick, whilst still sitting on the floor after being fouled, and Stainrod I think scoring (against Leicester?) Did this happen or have I misremembered.

I was at that game, and it was something out of the ordinary like that but my brain is too fuzzy to recall exactly.
